Training today:

Axle hitler clean + power jerk:

61.5kg x 3
71.5kg x 1
81.5kg x 1
91.5kg x 1
101.5kg x 1
111.5kg fail clean

Axle belt clean + power jerk:

111.5kg fail clean lol
111.5kg x 1
116.5kg x 1

Yoke press mock up: epic fail

20" Axle deadlift:

115kg x 3
155kg x 1
195kg x 1
235kg x 1
275kg x 1
295kg x 1
301.5kg x 1

messy, fairly unsuccessful session trying to work out how to train for the mids u90. axle was all over the shop. pretty happy with 116.5kg though as I havent been that heavy on it since the begining of last year.

tried to imitate a yoke press by driving up off the pins with an oly bar but that was a bad idea so gave up on it.

then tried to mock up the deadlift set up. its billed as 18" but looking at videos of it it looks higher. plus its 330kg for reps!! so that would seem to suggest it is higher too. mucked around trying to get the right height but couldnt. what I did was probably too high. will probably just wing it on the day I think!

Training today:

Log clean + press:

80kg x 2
90kg x 1
100kg x 1
118.5kg x 1

Axle squat:

72.5kg x 3
112.5kg x 1
132.5kg x 1
147.5kg x 1
wraps on:
152.5kg x 3

log was solid. fairly light on the squat to get used to the axle and wraps set up. was reminded again how much I hate wraps!

Winging the dead lift sounds like my plan too mate. Got to be higher than 18" otherwise it's really out of proportion with the 170 squat.

yeah. its that specific, I dont think there would be any point in training it unless you had the actual kit.

Training today:

Log clean + press:

80kg x 2
90kg x 1
100kg x 1
118.5kg x 1

Axle squat:

72.5kg x 3
112.5kg x 1
132.5kg x 1
147.5kg x 1
wraps on:
152.5kg x 3

tuesday nights are tough!

really had to grind out the log today. I think all that silly rack pulling on saturday has knackered me this week. very happy with 118.5 3 days on the trot though. 120 will be sweet next week.

squats were solid again. still getting used to the set up. I am attempting to cut my depth to parallel as I think the wraps work better that way. I think the depth looks ok?

Sweet.

Do you need it for general training or sm training? Sandbag would be good generally. For sm I see it more as a 'fine tuner' for technique. I'd only use mine if I had it coming up in competition.

Had another go at dead lifts in the rack and came to the conclusion it's a daft idea. Definitely going to wing it

I'm just after something for general training that doesn't take up loads of room.

I too am after a sandbag to add to my growing collection.

Do you recommend making one or do you have those Ironmind ones?

Ideally I would like one that I can easily add and subtract weight to/from.

for general training yes id say a sandbag would be a good shout.

homemade sandbag (my recipe) -

plus side - cheaper
minus side - it will need repairs over time so may be less cost effective in the long run. cant adjust the weight easily

ironmind -

plus side - weight is fairly easily adjustable. will last a long time.
minus side - expensive

a cheaper long term altenative is to get an army kit bag like this -

http://www.meanandgreen.com/army/British_Army/British_General_...

they are pretty strong but cheap. you will need to get a nylon tie for the top too.

Training today:

Axle belt clean + power jerk:

71.5kg x 3
81.5kg x 1
91.5kg x 1
101.5kg x 1
106.5kg x 3

Incline log press:

80kg 3 x 3
85kg x 1
90kg x 1
95kg x 6

Pull-ups:

BW 3 x 5
BW x 15

axle felt much more fluid than last week. incline log was a bit off - probably because I havent done it for a couple of weeks. did pull ups instead of chins for a change.
