15" Deadlift:

100kg x 5
140kg x 3
160kg x 1
180kg x 1
200kg - back popped

Oly clean:

60kg x 1
70kg x 1
80kg x 1
100kg x 1

Yoke (10m course):

130kg for 20m
170kg for 20m
210kg for 20m
250kg for 20m - 22secs

Farmers walk (12m course):

70kg for 24m
100kg for 24m - 21secs

so my back popped again. was initially thinking to just drop deads altogether and just work on events as that has worked in the past. however I remembered that I have my frame here now so I could bring some side handle work in to reduce the pressure on my low back whilst still pulling every week. maybe 3 weeks side handle/1 week oly bar. we'll see.

did some cleans to release some pressure on my back which it did to a certain extent.

back was ok with yoke as it was a bending over type pain and being upright was fine. felt much improved. 2 seconds quicker than last week. farmers felt quick but same time as last week. better control though.

I was thinking about you 78kg circus bell and nearly getting it overhead. Has anyone done a bodyweight dumbbell overhead? I know James Ward was almost getting a 100kg one at around 93kg bodyweight but don't think he got and (but sure he could do bodyweight). Also, Shane could probably do it as he makes light work of the 78kg one. Any thoughts?

FYI I had a side line long term goal of doing a turkish get up with a millenium bell replica (103kg) which would be nice.

How's the rest of the training going? Any comps planned aside from the 80kg next year? u90kg nattys again?

I dont know of anyone else. I think alot of the top u90s would be there or thereabouts if they put their mind to it though.

turkish get up with the millennium would be off the charts!

feeling pretty positive about training now my kit is here. got no excuses for weaknesses now. im hoping that some decent u80 comps are going to come up. they are running an u80 at the nattys (provided they get the numbers in the quals) so im gonna go for that. at this point im not really strong enough for u90s but if a comp came up that suited my strengths I would consider it.

Snatch:

20kg x 3

80kg fail

85kg fail
85kg x 1
90kg 6 fails

Snatch/overhead squat:

85kg x 1/2

90kg proving to be a bit of a monkey on my back. not actually sure how I didnt hit it as my pull was actually strong this week, just kept loosing it forward in the catch. oh squat was pretty hard. would be easier if I didnt keep walking it forward between each rep.

Incline log press:

80kg 3 x 3
85kg 4 x 6

Box squat:

60kg x 3
80kg x 2
100kg x 1
110kg 5 x 5

log strong again. box squat was an interesting combination of feeling light but hard. hopefully that is a sign of them hitting some weak areas.

50kg x 10 in 90secs (L,R)

Yoke (10m course):

100kg for 24m - 19secs

Keg carry:

90kg for 36m

best events session for a fair while. probably because I sacked off deadlift lol. what the hell - lifes too short to piss about with lifts that wreck your back and ruin all your other lifts. yoke and farmers were way quicker than past weeks but have to take into account the reduced fatigue from not deadlifting before though. keg carry much better than last time but that wasnt hard. will try and get to four lengths and then work on speed from there.
