i can never get quite over the fact how much of a difference just 1-2kg makes in snatches! As a powerlifter if the lift goes to the groove that weight would make no difference. If the lift misses the groove it may as well be 10kg lighter and still miss it...

I'm still a newbie, the snatch isnt my strongest movement. 70kg is quite new to me so if i want to improve it on saturday i really cant try much more than that, 1 or 2 kg can change everything! The clean & jerk on the other hand is more about brutal strenght, 1 or 2 kg here wouldnt make much of a dif imo.

I need 70k/90k because thats what im worth atm, my fear lays in the fact that the fed might give me some red for one little mistake i may not even be aware of. There are billions way to fail, ask Andy or any Ol lifter you know, little s**t like balancing, time gestion, arms movements can screw your match...
I want to succeed in my six matches. Last time i had red on three of them which prevented me from trying a pb. This time ill try them with a clear head, empty tank!

As for the camera i dont have one, yet i know my coaches sometime shoot their pupils' match so i just need to borrow it from them then upload the stuff.

Still have a bad hangover from last night. I'll try to sum up the comp as good as i can right now as it is still fresh in my memory. So please forgive my broken english over here.



snatch

65kg no problem here, 3 white

70kg missed, got 3 red on this one

70kg done, 3 white

clean & jerk

85kg, no problem 3 white

90kg, missed, 2 red.

Cleaned it real quick and jerked it like it should be done. Got 2 fcuking red on this one for 'stabilizing the bar on my shoulders'!!!!

At that time I was still close to a 165k total, I wanted to try 95kg as a new pb plus a new total would get me in the next category. Problem was nobody would try a lift between 90kg and 95kg. They all have finished by then, and the only one who was left wasnt starting before 100kg. Even if i would have tried again 90kg it would have been the same scenario. So here i am, preparing for my third c&j with only 2minutes rest between my last lift and this one.

95kg, missed 3 red.

Cleaned it again nice and smooth, felt a bit dizzy and jerked like s**t. I was pretty pissed by then because i know i could c&j 95kg if i had enough time to rest in between, that is more than 2 minutes.
I have nailed 93kg this week and i've got what it takes to clean 110kg. What i wanted from this comp is 'no red', that was fcuked. Still i'm pleased with the result, a 70kg snatch in comp is something i really needed. What i missed, i did for bad reasons, i believe i could c&j 95kg any time next week, so no fretting here. I finished second which aint that bad. Will try to grab some of the vids that have been made.

Unlucky on the reds mate - does 'stabilize with shoulders' mean they thought you pressed it?

Forgot to add, second snatch was missed because i wasnt holding my chin up high.

Got weighted at 75.7kg in boxers, empty stomach.

Cheers lads, comp was fun anyhow.

Rob, by stabilizing the bar i meant, right before the jerk, i wasnt too comfortable with the way the bar was resting on the clavicles, so i moved it a bit and must have done something with my arms they didnt like. Federee must have thought i was about to jerk it when i wasnt hence the reds.

1 power snatch + 1 half squatted and paused for 2 seconds snatchx5@55kg

snatch grip pull/deadlift, excentric

Like a regular snatch grip pull yet the descent phase lasts 5 seconds.

These were quite taxing to say the least.
I recomand them warmly to any of you masochistic over there[Wink]

push press up to your tip toes

Felt weak at this.

bench

72.5kgx5x5

Same old same old, dont know what to do with my bench! Try to up the weights to 75kg for 5x5 or go triples!?

Any thoughts are much welcome as usual, dont hesitate to give adices or/and comments, anything helps one way or another...

Havent seen the guy who shot the vids yet.

Tough ones as i've never tried to double 85kg before, cant help thinking 5 months ago 80kg in the c&j was my best bar lol.

Should up the weight a bit here, but i'd rather favour good form over weight, i believe good triples should be 120%, i should then aim at 115kg since i count my % on a 70kg snatch and a 95kg c&j.

drop snatch

As i'm still quite new to this i keep the same weight i was doing on the 29th. However i now go for triples instead of doubles.
This drop snatch are done real fast which is a real pleasure.

40kgx3x5

standing bb military press

Havent done this in ages which doesnt help, used to 5x5 55kg. I was doing it first thing by then.

40kgx4x5

Could have tried 45Kg or 50kg but these were hard enough, good sensations.

Oh yeah, i've seen the guy who shot me lifting and he told me there is no vid. His camera is the regular type with a focus and all, thing is he just shot photographs. Then it's only pics i can upload, iam expecting them somewhere this evening or tomorrow.

I think unless the 72.5 x 5 x 5 was extremely hard, go for 5 x 5 with 75. If you get them then increase again the week after. If you dont get the 5 x 5 then lower the volume and reps to something like 3 x 3 and increase weight again etc until you max. It makes sense in my head haha

I was thinking to go for 75kgx5x5 yet i believe i wont be able to complete all reps, maybe i should wait and go for one more week at 72.5 then. Going for triples now doesnt please me because i want to spare them until i nail 75kgx5x5.
I dont know....

If you don't believe you'll get 75x5x5, do the 72s once more. Then try it the next week - and believe it!

Then to 3x3 after that, maybe?

Fat Pete used to do 5x5 until stalling ("work"), then three singles until maxed out ("fun"), and he did alright...
