Monday 25th January.

Just 6 days left until the EM Classic so I thought that after another week travelling on business where nothing heavier than a large beer was lifted, I'd better formulate a plan. Which is this - Tonight work up to Sundays planned openers, then do nothing for another week and hope for the best. Unhappy Unhappy Unhappy Unhappy

The qualifying total that I'm looking for will be well exceeded by my opening lifts, so as long as I get them the job will be done. As this is an open age group competition there is no chance of any glory anyhow so i'll just enjoy the day.

Tonight - Just 8 lifters at the Farm, including Stewart, Steve and I who are lifting on Sunday, no sign of PTSMark who appears to have jumped ship in favour of box jumping or Lottie, both of whom are also lifting on Sunday.

Bodyweight 112.45Kg - Blood Sugar 12.1

Squat.

Sh*t, they were tough. Squats seem to suffer most from time away from the bar.

So Sundays plan is as follows:
Openers: 165/107.5/200-472.5 total. Qualified for British & All England.
2nd lifts: 172.5/112.5/215-500 total. Would be happy with this.
3rd lifts if good to here: 177.5/117.5/220-515 total. Not enough work done to get here really.

So off the back of 2 sessions in the previous 18 days I travelled down to Letchworth for the EM Open Classic on Sunday.
The goal was to post qualifying totals for the GBPF Masters and All England events.

Weighed in at 113.1Kg, heavier than I was expecting but with no special dietary plan or cutting I should not be too surprised. Succumbed to a full English fry up after weighing in at 11 as I (correctly) predicted that we would not be lifting until around 3:30PM.

Squat.
Sporadic warm up sets to singles at 140 and 155, at this point I was worried, squats are not going well and after the 155 genuinely felt that my 165 opener was too high! Anyhow:
165 Three whites. Felt awful!
170 Three whites. A little more comfortable.
175 Three whites. Strangely the easiest lift of the three.
Very relieved to have done this.

Bench.
Warm up were all comfortable, ending with a paused single at 100.
105 Three whites. Easy.
112.5 Three whites. Still comfortable.
117.5 Three whites. Good call, probably the limit today.
Better than expecting on the bench, very happy with this.

Deadlift.
Warm ups were rubbish, singles at 170 and 185 were not comfortable and I felt like my grip was letting me down.
200 Three whites. Nice bar, no grip problems, came up easy.
212.5 Three whites. Comfortable.
217.5 Three whites. Another good call, nothing more there.

Total 510, more than happy with this all things considered.

I've still to decide about entering the Masters, the closing date is Feb 20th so there are 2 weeks in which to make a decision. Let's see how training goes for the next few sessions.

First some bad news from the IPF. The 2018 world Classic championships which the IPF have been advertising for the last 12 months as taking place in Lithuania, which I was targeting and looking forward to is now being advertised as taking place in Calgary, Canada. Not such a problem really, except a £500 round trip is now most likely going to be a £2,000 round trip. That said, it's still over two years away and I've yet to A) Stay alive and B) Qualify!

Friday 12th.
Just 6 lifters at the Farm tonight, the hardcore bunch, Rowlands, Rowlands, Jane, Weisz, Finch & Pete the Chair.
Weight 113.5, Blood 10.4.

All felt tougher than they should, that said the 150's felt no tougher than the 130's.

calgary is a great Town though , I had 1 of the best nights out I've ever had in Calgary.

hows the diabetes diet going have you developed a fondness for rabbit food yet?

a blender can be a good way of drinking loads of veg without having to eat it.

F*ck rabbit food Ed, I'm simply eating no sugar and minimal carbs. Living of eggs, nuts, steak, chicken and alcohol at the moment! Veggies always look so miserable when you go for a curry or a kebab.

Away from last Sunday to Tuesday and then again from Thursday to Sunday so tonight, Wednesday 17th, is this weeks only session.
