Wednesday 15th January.

Another busy night at the Farm with around 15 lifters. Weighed in at 110.7Kg, my lightest this year.

Squats.
10 x 20
5 x 70
5 x 110

Half squats to bench.
5 x 110
5 x 140
5 x 160
5 x 180
3 x 200
1 x 207.5
3 x 190
The half squats were more about unracking and stepping out with the bigger weight than the actual squating, especially as I am looking for a 190 in 2 weeks time. Strangely the unracking was more comfortable than usual but the actual squats were dissapointingly tough. I also managed to twang something in my back on the third 190 so I dropped a planned 5x180 at the end. NOT HAPPY!

Bench.

1 x 105 Paused under command.
1 x 110 Paused under command.
1 x 112.5 Paused under command.

8 x 85 Close Grip.
This session was exactly as planned but looking back it does not look like much!

Not happy with tonights efforts or the bad back! Time for IbrupofenUnhappy

I'm not actually trying to lose weight at the moment! No point in dropping bodyweight when I'm lifting in the 120's.
After the masters I'll probably go down to the 105's with Mark!Happy

If you drop weight to the 105s then I can have the added satisfaction of benching 15+ reps with your bodyweight. Only hit 8 with 110 the other day but your BW was about 114. The farm lifters keep getting bigger and bigger that's why the goal posts are always moving.

Was so much easier when Ian at 120kg was the biggest in the club. Grin

Funny you said that cos yesterday someone noted I was losing weight (from the mid-section which is good). I was supposed to do a few deads after squats but when I pulled 220 like a joke I went for 255.

The first attempt was watched by Antony who noted my butt was high. On my second attempt (butt down) the weight came up just below knees. Not bad for a fatty, I wouldn't have attempted 255 ahead of schedule but I heard Mark was on fire at the farm and he missed 260.

Friday 17th.

Another busy night, Shaun & Sharn in trap 1, Pete the Chair in trap 2, 3 students in trap 3, Scott, Stewart, Forklift and new boy in trap 4, Me & Roxanne on deadlifts and Normal Mark1 on the dumbells! I reckon that's 13. Weighed in at 111.95Kg.

Deadlifts.
2 x 5 x 70
5 x 110
5 x 140
3 x 160
2 x 180
2 x 200
1 x 212.5 The wheels fell off at this point, this should have been a double however the 2nd pull never got past my knees. I could profer all sorts of excuses but the fact is it never came up and the effort left me f*%!*d (drained). Sacked off the rest of the session (2x200/2x190/5x170) and went benching.
Came back to it after benching and finished with:

2 x 190
Very dissapointed.

The fact that you came back and got a few under your belt is what counts. I heard on the book of faces that Scott hit 20 reps with 100kg at the farm.

Monday 20th.

With just 13 days to the EM Classic most Farm lifters are using this week to get the last of the heavy sessions in, for me however the event is just a workout on the way the the masters 4 weeks later. Weighed in at 112.4Kg.

Squats.

3 x 130
2 x 150
2 x 165
2 x 177.5
2 x 170
2 x 160
5 x 147.5
Satisfied with these, i'm just about were I need to be with squats at this point, i'll be after a 190 in two weeks and according to the Finch formula a double at 177.5 equates to a 191.9 single!

This was all a bit rushed and I ran out of time before i'd finished my sets. Dissapointed with the 120 and with how tough the 115 was. Not sure where the time went tonight, I was however squatting with Horny! Wink

Twenty One!
Yes, 21 lifters at the Farm tonight, anyone would think that there was a competition looming. Wink Wink Wink

Some good work happening as well, deadlifts produced some interesting moments. Normal(2) was shaking his legs, Horny was turning a bizarre shade of Red, Forklift picked up 280 (first time in ages) and Frank picked up 252.5.

Weighed in at 111.65Kg.

Much happier with tonights deadlifts, especially after the disaster on Friday.

Not happy at all with the bench, I think that 115 will be my absolute max on competition day. If i'm to get anywhere near my competition total PB at the Masters in March I need to be benching 130 regularly again but it just does not seem to be there any more.

Friday 24th January.

Very quiet at the Farm tonight, you can never tell what the turnout is going to be like. Sean & Sharn in trap 1, Andy Weightlifter in trap 2 (first time at the Farm in 18 months), Me and Little James in trap 3, Forklift & New old bloke in trap 4, Gordon & Big Dave deadlifting (Cant believe I just typed that, maybe it was a dream of some sort) whilst Pete the Chair came in around 6. I make that 10 of us.

Weighed in at 111.45Kg, trying to bulk up for the competition is not really happening is it! Roll-Eyes

Squat.

1 x 175 Tough, went over deep and leant forward. Poor technique but it came up.

Heavy deadlifts on Monday, then a light session on Wednesday, stretching only next Friday and competing a week on Sunday.

Monday 27th January.

13 lifters at the Farm tonight.
Weighed in at 112.5Kg.
Last heavy session before the competition on Sunday. I've seen the list of entries and of the 10 Farm lifters competing my forecast is 3rd places for me, Stewart & Horny. 2nd places for Forklift & Scott. Wins for Sharn & Martine. Certificates for the rest of the Farm lifters. I could be wrong though! Wink Wink Wink

No problems, i'll be opening with 200 and taking 215 for my second lift on Sunday.

Very busy at the Farm again. My attempt at bulking up during January has failed miserably, weight on Jan 1st 111.55Kg, weight tonight 111.65Kg, i'm not sure that adding 0.1Kg counts as bulking up! Tongue Tongue
Tonight was an easy session working up to singles at 70% of Sundays expected third lifts.
