I'm afraid it's a GBPF competition Ed, but it will be a fun event!
It's aimed at 2 groups:
1). Beginners.
2). Lifters trying to achieve qualifying totals for national events.
Priority was also given to those lifters that could not get into the over subscribed EM Classic back in Feb. We will be limiting the numbers to just 40 and we have 30 entries so far.

Wednesday 12th March.

Nothing much, just a few light lifts and stretching. Weighed in at 112.25Kg.

Squat.

i thought it , might be , if it had been a gym comp i'd have had a go to see what sort of puny total i could come up with.

Saturday 15th March.
British Masters - Classic - Horncastle.

Weighed in at 109.7Kg, lighter than expected, maybe the scales were reading a little light!

Squat.
Warmed up to a single at 165 then:
175 Three whites.
185 Three whites.
192.5 Failed 2 reds, 1 white.
Disappointed with this, I felt sure it was good however the two side refs failed it on depth. I asked Forklift who was standing behind the right hand ref and he thought it was close but his sight was blocked by the spotter, most people who spoke to me later thought it could easily have been passed! Never mind, it takes two reds to fail and they have the best view in the house.

Bench.
Warmed up to a self paused 110 then:
110 Three whites.
117.5 Three whites.
120 Three whites.
Happy with this, the 120 was right on the limit today but it kept moving and locked out fine.

Deadlift.
Warmed up to a single at 200 then:
210 Three whites.
220 Three whites.
227.5 Three reds, the bar only came 6 inches off the floor.
Disappointed with myself for the 227.5, it was not going to effect any results and as I pulled I was thinking what's the point in all the effort, so I put it down instead of pulling through. That's not like me, I normally grind it out.

525 total, 2nd place. Can't be disappointed as I left home expecting to come 3rd.

It was a long day, left home at 9, got to the venue at 11:30, weighed in at 2, started lifting just after 6 and finished around 8:30. Got home just before midnight! The long day and erratic food intake plays havoc with my diabetes and I was knackered at the end of the day.

This will probably be my last British championships for a few years as i'm giving away 6 years and 10 kilos in bodyweight to the young uns coming through. Hopefully i'll be back as an M3.Happy Happy Happy

Well lifted Ian. So you marginally/controversially missed one lift and failed another. At least you didn't play it safe and were left wondering what if. Good performance.

Back on it tonight, I've got to miss a fair number of sessions of the next 3 months so I need to make the most of my available time! Weighed in at 111.05Kg.

Only my second session at the Farm in nearly three weeks and despite taking it easy I am hurting like fcuk today. Weighed in at 111.75Kg, surprisingly light after a two week binge.

Busy again tonight, 12 lifters at The Farm!
Weighed in at 112.5Kg, not feeling good after a rough weekend, long working day and a lack of proper eating...

Surprisingly comfortable.

2 x 107.5 Should have been 3x but the third press stalled on the right side.
1 x 112.5 Should have been 2x.
Dumped the planned session at this point, arms and shoulders felt bad. Finished with a very tough 5x100.
Disapointing benching, I'm thinking that a return to twice weekly benching might help.

Ian, you will say there is no time in your session for this, but what would help is better attention to assistance exercises, in particular back and shoulders, potentially triceps, but you do close grip to be fair.

In my opinion, twice weekly benching along with something simple like 3x8, 5x10, 3x15 on say military pres and bent over rows would help no end. Weights arent to important, just balancing things out is. Worth a shot anyway.

A small amount of assistance exercises, would keep the niggles away. Maybe 5x5 shoulder, 5x5 bentover row... Squats are looking strong Ian, nice doubles!!!

Very busy night at the Farm, 18 lifters!
Weighed in at 112.4Kg.

Deadlift.
2 x 5 x 70

5 x 135
2 x 155
2 x 175

2 x 205
2 x 195
2 x 185
5 x 160
No real problems although the 195 double felt heavier than the 205!

No benching, did lots of light shoulder work and assistance stuff, nothing worth reporting.

Cleans, lots up to 51Kg which took three attempts to achieve!Unhappy
