Just working up to openers today.
Still feel crap after comp at weekend. Not been eating enough.

Need to be u80kg in 10 days. 82.9 this morning down from 83.6 on Monday.

Squats,
20*5, 70*3, 100*2, 120*2, 140*1,
belt on,
160*1, 170*1,
belt off,
three count pause,
140 *2, tough. Lol

170 was alright,Decent weight for an opener on monday.

My 140s were weirdly deeper than usual, I like completely relaxed during the pause which made them so weird and so tough. Almost at sitting on floor depth. I went all wobbly and crap though.

bench, all paused,
20*5, 40*5, 60*3,
80*3, 90*1, 95*1,
102*1,
Nice pace on it.
t and go.
90*5,

T&go feels weird after lots of pausing lately. These were alright. Maybe another few with spotter near.

Some bros were benching as well. This 72kg guy with a fairly giant chest, did 100*2 heavily spotted. Then decided to go for 115. Failed it terribly but spotted up so "Went for it again" and the people on either end held onto the bar the whole time . Reckon he has a legit 100kg bench by himself which is impressive considering the size of him yet pisses about with overly friendly spotters...

Deadlifts,
60*5, 100*3, 130*2,
mixed grip,
150*1,
belt on, 170*1,
185*1,

Meh, was not as snappy as i'd want but i feel like crap atm.


I feel generally crap but was nice to get in and hit my openers easily. Life is being annoying atm so ot having lifting time/energy.

Mock meet.

Weigh in 81.9kg. Fairly light but 2kg heavier than i need to be on Sunday.

Squats (old PB 175)
170, easy
180, DAT 4 PLATE SQUAT FINALLY! ! ! ! ! !
185x. Meh, was shattered after the 180. Maybe fresh?

Bench (old PB 108)
100, easy
110, Niiiiiiiiiiice, paused as well for a nice PB
115x. Not even close lol.

Deadlift (old PB 195)
185, alright
200, YEA BUDDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
205x Nah

New PBs all around but could have got more with better attempt selection probably. Was told off by powerlifters for not picking things correctly but i'm happy at finally hitting 180/110/200

490 total is alright. 500 soooon...

Good work mate, don't see how you could expect much more? You failed each 3rd lift with sensible selections. If you only did successful 2.5kg jumps for your third lifts, you didn't leave a lot on the platform at all.

Maybe if i took 2.5kg jumps instead of 5kg jumps? Maybe if i lowered my second to leave myself fresher for a third i could have got what i hit?

Tbh i was aiming for 180/110/200 and got them. Anything else would have been a bonus.

Most of the time youre not gonna hit two pb's in one lift in one session so if you wanted 205 you might be better going 170/190/205 but obviously that is a big risk in a powerlifting meet if you miss the 205.

Yes, this iw what i was told but tbh the big things i wanted to finally hit were the 180/200. Anything else would have been a bonus.

I mean my deadlift still sucks but at least it's now a 2xx instead of a 1xx...

COMP WRITE UP TIME

Northhampton's Strongest man u80kg

Was very heavy a few days out(like 83kg). cue water loading for a miserable few days including tiny meals on the saturday to help even more.

Wake up Sunday morning: 80.3kg

2 sessions and 30 minutes in the sauna later 79.9kg. Grin

Weighed in officially at 79.8kg.
Must have sweated out even more in my bike gear on the ride over to the gym.

Event one

Max trap bar deadlift, low handles.

Went 180,190, 200,205, then failed 210.

Old pb was 180 fro the floor i think so am very happy to pull 200+. I've been told that with my squat i should be doing much more on the trap bar. Will have to work on it a bit. I had sensible picks though. Many people did the last lift easily and after 5 attempts i'm surprised they left so much in the tank.
Event two.

250kg Yoke 20m run. Did it in about 23 seconds.

Tried speeding up last five metres and dropped it. Ffs.

At the time i went no one had even finished it but only four people had tried. Everyone after me ran the thing in about 10 seconds like lightning. I could have gone 5 seconds faster or 30 seconds slower and it would have made no difference. Lol.

Event Three

100kg farmers walk 20m. 13.1 seconds.

Very slow pickup due to low handles and it basically being my max deadlift from the height of my max deadlift immediately after a max deadlift event. Happy with that overall as a giant PB time but could work on my pickup.

Event Four :

Arm over arm pulls into sled drag. 200kg.

Very slow arm over arm. Quick drag. 38 seconds. Beat only 2 people on this due to my slow arm over arm. Need to really work on that in future. Dem small arms. Unhappy

Event Five,

lift load medley. Not good. 80kg Axle, done, 120kg T bar load was alright.

44kg kbell press (third object) kicked my ass. Couldn't balance it on shoulder. Others after me used second hand to brace it which I thought wasn't allowed. Normally if the press is one handed then it has to be one handed the whole way not 2 handed the bottom few inches then one handed but that's my fault for not asking/trying. And unlucky i was the second to go so didn't know.

Mandatory winge about event order switching to move the 70kg keg press from third object to fifth object which stopped most people. I pressed this after my attempt just because I could. Nvm. But it was the correct decision completely since everyone else managed the kbell but only 3 did the keg. I'm just weird.

Event Six

Truck pull done. Got 5.65m.

Was winning when I went but since others beat me.

Ended up an alright placing. There were slight bumps at like 3m, 5m and 9m. Only one guy finish and most others finished at these points roughly.

Was only 7cm behind Vausie on this one but he had one hand left at this point. Technically i beat him in the sled drag event but only because he fell over. Tongue

Overall


Equal 7th overall in my first advanced comp and am happy with my performance in most events. Just the lift load medley that let me down imo.

Thanks. I'm glad you appreciated the Kalle Beck video i shared with you as well on facebook. It was good fun getting my ass kicked. I beat a few people and have probably learnt a lot from watching you top 3 kick everyones ass.

Looking back at it i should have practised that damn Kb a lot more in the run up to the comp as i should be able to do that weight.

Farmers i could have been a bit faster on the pickup.

Arm over arm and deadlift both just need work but my strength is my legs and weakness is back/arms so that's going to happen.
