Entering Worthing's Strongest man u90kg Beginner class this sunday at Approx 78kg bodyweight.

Below are the events and my general thoughts on them. Will try and grab some videos on the day.

Quick light last session tomorrow as well.



Events:

Log press for reps - 75 sec 65kg
Have had 8 at 60kg and 3 at 70kg so would want a solid 5 tbh. Not done enough log practise lately unless you count the 2 reps i did at the previous comp at the rising bar log.

Deadlift for reps - 75 sec –
160kg
got 155*9 in practise last week and have 170*7 before so would like 10. Should be able to get 10 if i smash out the first 6/7 nice and quick.

Yoke – 40 meters – 170kg
170 is relatively light compared to the 180 at recent comps. Would want to beat my time from my previous comp,
49 seconds.. Tbh i want to obliterate that time as that was a slow steady walk with 170. I want to be sub 40. Need to be quick on the turn so gain a few seconds.




Farmers – 40 meters -65kg
5kg lighter than last comp so want to beat time again. 30.4 second old time. Would be nice to dip under 30 seconds. Should be eaiser as the handles were cylinders last time and aren't now so i should be jogging with them.


Beginners medley for time
Arm to arm sled pull -70kg -15 meters, 60kg keg carry 40 meters, prowler push 15 meters – 70kg

Sled pull will be slow, i've practised it once and it was slow. Never carried a keg in my life. Prowler push will be easy. Just want to finsih this without throwing up tbh.

Thanks. Looking forward to it tbh. It's a lot of the same guys i've already competed against at Eastbourne/Hastings as well. Shame there's not an u80kg class for me to do well in but nvm. Good excuse for when i do badly in the u90s.

There is a women entering though. Need to beat her at the minimum every event.

Feelsbadman. Need to place higher than her in each event.

Think she's one of Britain's strongest women so is entering the Male u90kg class instead of the womens class since the womens class the weights are too light for her.

Worrying she'll be quick on the moving events and maybe be quicker than me. Think she will get 1 or maybe 2 on the deadlifts and i want 10 so should be safe on that at least. Wink

Thanks Jan. So was i tbh. You said i'd get 110. I was thinking like 112 ish before i started.

Maybe i could get even more? Will try again after next Fronties session. Will do triples or something. Great ab exercise. Absolutely killed me. My abs still hurting just sitting here typing this now.

Thanks. I like taking videos as i find it useful to see myself lifting.

It's Sussex uni gym. Just got a whole bunch of new equipment. WErksan bumpers and bars etc. No events training stuff but i'm the only one in the gym that wants them so they won't buy it just for me.

There's a good bunch of us that lift there at regular times so you could always come down for a session if you want. Smalls came down last week.

I looked round sussex uni when i was considering unis! the gym im training at now is great but the bars are s**t. how much it is for a session?

Worthings Strongest Man u90kg Beginner class.

Weigh in 80.3 kg

Fully clothed in t shirt. Jumper, hoody, jeans, shoes. Tongue

Still 10kg underweight. Was 78.1 at home after breakfast.

Log press

65kg*7

Got seven reps. My video person missed first one.

Failed an eighth just on the time limit. Happy with my number but not happy with the fail. I was rushing to try and get another in the time limit.

8th/16

Deadlift

160kg*12

Ugly roundback reps. All terrible form but higher than my aim of ten so happy.

9th/16

Yoke

170 kg for 40m.

Done in 24.1 seconds. Very happy considering previous best time over 40m was 49. Grin

6th/16

Farmers
65kg for 40m.

Done in 20.06 seconds.

Placed 10th as everyone else was in the Nineteens.
Slightly slow pick up and turn cost me.

Happy as ten seconds better than previous PB.

10th/16

Medley

Arm over arm pull for 20m.
Prowler push low handles 20m,
Prowler push high handles 20m.

completed in 1:21

My arm over arm was slow then the prowler was a killer. The astroturf indoors was not glued down properly everywhere so was hard to keep momentum. then i was just on the return journey.

12th/16

Overall

Was 11th Overall which is good considering i placed lower at u77.5kg category earlier in the year and finsihed equal last at Hastings and beat two people in Eastbourne so this was solidly Beating 5 people.

(One was female but she is going to Arnolds next year so was a decent competitor with us guys. She Only never came last i think as well.
