Nico: Like you said really! To me the clean felt much lighter than the jerk. What made me fail was the 2 min rest only between my last two lifts and that i was far from being able to master this kind of weights, still am for the time being though[Wink]

good vids man. I know next to nothing about oly lifting but always enjoy watching vids of all levels of people lifting. There are very few lifts as beautiful as well performed snatch Happy

I like them a lot myself, always wanted to try my hand.
I've always found them both aesthetic and violent. What pleases me the most is the freedom you get when training the snatch and c&j, they're made of so many things you train on their own yet once in a while you get to complete them. Ace sensations to lift something from floor to overhead as well.

I've always wanted to train like a strongman though, i've little hands and am 5ft5 which are things you cant go against and provide one from training strongman, let alone the clean and press; couldnt hold the barUnhappy

nah man, size in strongman may be a factor, but shorter guys have some advantage in some events as well. You cant help your height, and the beauty of strongman is that the events vary so much that i dont think it should be a factor. One of the scottish strongman top 3 is 5f5 (though about as wide as well).

Bit gutted here, i could have wipped my arse on the platform. Why is it i cant snatch this deep whith heavier weights on a regular basis? I thought the heavier the deeper! Anyway, i just stretched then left.

Thanks lads, i've never been this strong ever, feels great, cant wait to c&j 100kg though.

Olly: I agree, these guys are a bunch of good lads and very knowledgeable as well, they all have been national/international. It's a good thing having people like that for trainers yet sometimes they're really a pain in the arse. You can't choose what to do since you're into a more or less long term training they put down for you, you dont have much freedom. You need to take the bollocking, and sometimes you feel like ripping some heads off when one of them tells you, out of the blue, 'hummm you should do more of this and that, since it is your weak point'. I've been training the OL for 7months, coming 3 to 5 days a week. How come this s**t comes up now, why didnt you tell me in the first place? See?

I'll stop because i could write about it all day, main thing is trust though, you have to completly trust them no matter what. Sometimes it is a bit difficult, but i get stronger in my lifts which is why i signed in the first place and thats all there is to it.

Had some good news today, well not good for everyone but good for me. Some guy at the gym injured his ankle yesterday and wont be able to lift on saturday and i get to replace him.YES![Happy][Happy][Happy] I shouldnt lift there normally it is out of my league, this comp will tell the best team in normandy. I'll be way outlifted by everybody, but since i'm the highest ranked among those who didnt qualified for it, i get to lift for my team this saturday anyway, yes man!!![Happy]. Most of the guys there have been training for 10 to 15 years and can snatch over 100Kg, so it's going to be a good watch.

Comp day, weighted in at 75.30kg.
This is for the team, lifts must be good, at least the first bars.

snatch


65kg, passed three white, no problem didnt catch the bar in a full snatch though

70kg, failed, 2 red, slight arm delay they said, or pressing that was but who the fcuk cares 'no lift' they say

70kg, failed, 2 red, exactly the same stuff. Did complete the movement but i need to hit more depth so that my arms stay straight.

Pretty pissed at that point for i needed 165kg total to change category and didnt see it coming along by then.[:@]


clean & jerk


87kg, passed 3 white, easy enough didnt feel it on my shoulders, fast pull.

92kg, passed 3 white, same stuff, feeling strong. I knew the clean wasnt my problem but the jerk god seems to be on my side.

At that point coachB told me we already won to the point so making sure i get 97kg out of the last c&j wasnt needed anymore, i could afford to fail.

100kg,pr, passed 3 white, good clean quite low, jerk was good too. Form was great they said, what i can tell is that it wasnt as heavy as i thought i would be. Feels great shifting this overhead.[Happy]

How pleased i was, first time in my life i c&j 100kg, i had a banana for a smile and im still chuffed as im writting this. I've got my total, 165kg gets me to the next level when i thought it was dead in the water.

Gave me a cup i left at the gym since it was a team work, they gave it to me because i broke 100kg that time.

Best bar i've seen this day were 112kg snatch and a 138kg c&j by a 69kg lifter, impressive to say the least.
