Cheers Smalls, that's a great response! Happy

My second pull is definitely the weak part as I can clean 135kg any day of the week and probably still do 140kg when fresh, but I could probably power clean a max of 110-115kg. I think I just about get away with the weak second pull by getting under the bar in an ok fashion.

I don't think I've necessarily always finished my pulls properly even with the power variants so maybe some work of the blocks will force me to do it. (I've only snatched from blocks 2-3 times but remember 70kg being an absolute nightmare - I think that tells a tale!)

Hopefully there'll be a 140kg clean posted in the next few weeks. I just want to focus of correcting a few things first.

I have no experience from doing stuff from the blocks, but the way I see it is that on the powers (from the floor) you have to concentrate on your first pull and you get the extra fatigue of pulling off the floor, and also have to focus to not short change the second pull with momentum from the first pull.
The block work is less fatiguing, but if you are doing the full lifts from them then it is entirely based on the second power pull. I have read/been told by guys here too that hang/block/floor lifts are about the same for good lifters, so maybe some food for thought with that.
Especially on cleans its easier to carry through some of the momentum from the first pull and can get away with a slower second pull, but as the weight goes up this hits a wall.
Just my thinking at this moment in time. I would do block stuff if I only wanted to work on the second pull and speed, and the powers if they were particularly low % compared to the full lifts or I didn't feel like I was pulling my full lifts high enough, or finishing the second pull.

There's a video of me doing a set of 3 hang power cleans with 90kg in my journal for anyone who wants to watch it? Grin
(sorry Smalls, but Shane pointed out your journal is a good place to advertise! lol)

Why the 7.5kg jump from 107.5 to 115. It's a pretty hefty jump when near maximum weights?

get out of here with your ads Grin

I have done 110 for most previous sessions, why not 115 Happy
It's not THAT much difference % wise. 4%?
But it was useful as its where my technique shows its weakness, up til then I get them, then suddenly around those weights I can't rack it properly, too far forward on the shoulder. More technical work and time needed, and I will progress. Onwards!
Saw your vid, for a 210 squatter a with an easy 120x2 clean, sort yourself out with your 90 powers Grin

And what JC said.

I actually think 4% is a big jump. It would be surprising to see a 7.5kg jump in a comp I reckon.

And YES, my power cleans are shocking, especially from the hang. (I see the advertising worked Grin)

But training isn't a comp, it's just practise, I don't need to put as many kgs in the bad as possible on that day. You don't think someone could go 110, 115 in a comp? What's another 2.5kg between friends on top of that?
