first 4 sets were pretty ropey, but took the Oly shoes off for the last set et voila!. I think the raised heel was pitching me too far over the bar, which meant the bar was moving away from my body. Not good, but hopefully sorted by pulling in socks. We live and learn eh?

Oooh - I might have to ditch the shoes next time - see if my pull gets any better (deadlift slippers might be a purchase from buzz soon !)
Are you competing this year ?

Great meeting you yesterday Tony, and great job with the loading/scoring/reffing/helping! You were worked hard!

Some people swear by deadlifting in Oly shoes Phil. I think for me they're just not quite right, but I love squatting in them. Go figure
I'll be competing in the Police champs at the end of the year. I've got some targets in mind and hopefully I'll be lifting in the 100s. I've got my eye on Paul Hooker's DL record...

Nice meeting you too Alex. I felt knackered at the end of the day, although I think James and Matt worked harder

First foray to the gym this week, and to a different gym! Closer to work, has a power rack (which my current one doesn't) and plenty of kit, but just doesn't have the same 'vibe'. So i'll be sticking with my current gym for the time being. Anyhoo, just a some bb bobbins for arms delts and back, then 15 mins intervals on the treadmill, then did some KB snatches (16kg). First time ever. Did 8 each arm, had about a mins rest, then again. Even this had me blowing like a train. My conditioning is soooo poor

Squats
bar x lots
60 x 5
100 x 5
140 x 3
160 x 2
172.5 x 2
182.5 x 1
182.5 x 1
172.5 x 2
172.5 x 2
120 x 8 (ouch)
Very pleased with the squats. I've squatted over 400lb for probably a dozen reps in my life (including PL comps and warmups!!)and these felt like some of the easiest. Nice!
Bench
90 x 8
120 x 5
132.5 x 2
140 x 1
140 x 1
132.5 x 2
132.5 x 2
100 x 8 (ouch again)
Again, pleased with the benching despite the bench being a touch on the high side. Felt like I could have doubled the 140s. Happy days . Should have weeks off at a time more often
3 sets of 8 (each arm) kettlebell snatches. Easier than on Friday

Cheers fellas. I squtted my PB 220 off the back of 180 doubles, so I should be there or thereabouts at the moment

Not done a great deal over the last week or so (in fact nothing). Work has been rather inconsiderately getting in the way of training, but I should have sorted that by now.
Off for week away with the Mrs B and Little B, so no training next week either. Should be good for a big PB when I get back .
But talking of training, I'm going to go rugby training on the 8th. First time I've had a ball in my hands for a long time (insert double entendre here please)
