i think you go too close to your top set,

and i dont see much point in doing loads of reps with 100kg n squats in your warm up

but your a madman

Nice work.

When I did a double with 210 the other week I did the following;

100x3
120x3
160x3
180x2
200x2
210x2
200x2

This was after a lot of benching to, so I dont't think you are doing too many warm up sets or reps. If you where doing 140x10 or 180x6 etc then yeah it'd be a fair point. Secondly what your doing is working pretty well so go figure ehy?

Mind you if I was going to attempt a tripple with 210 I'd have only done 200x1 instead of a double. As well I was after a little volume as opposed to just one top set.

Like Iain says do what you feel comfortable with Phil and don't worry about missed reps in the gym, especially on squats as i love being stuck in the holeTongue Grin

Nice squatting Phil. I'd have done the same warm-up as you, but dropping the 205kg.

Thanks for all the replies guys, sorry Im a bit behind as I had to work for 2 days and nights. Iain, with regards to my warm ups, Im not concerned with the amount of sets Im doing, I just think I do a lot of reps compared to others. I suppose Im always searching for a better way of doing things in training. How comes you only work in 3s in your warm ups? It obviously works for you, I take it its to conserve energy for the top sets. Oh and lol at Titch!

Todays training;

Bench press
20x20 last rep paused
60x10 "
100x6 "
130x3 "
140x1 paused
150x1 "
155x1 "
145x1 "

Close reverse grip bench press
80x6
110x7

Underarm chins
Body weightx8
+33.75x6
+33.75x6
+33.75x6

Bent over barbell rows
100x8
165x8

A good session today. The 155kg bench was hard, I think atm on the comp 155 will be my 3rd attempt, although I could go 152.5, then 157.5 and go for a small pb. The chins felt so good, they were going up very quick and I think I could have used more weight. Next week I will do a single set with 40kg and see what I can get. Deadlifts on monday and a crack at 7 plates a side Wink

Thanks Carl for putting that video up you skinny little runt.

I forgot to add that I was talking to Robyn Brown during training today. I expect there may be a few here who have heard of him as he used to compete in BAWLA then the BPC. He lifted as a master for several years winning 10 world titles in the 82.5/90kg classes. Basically, he is going to write me and Carl a programme leading up to the British Champs. This will be good as Ive always been self coached and I would love to have someone elses input, especially someone with his experience.

Great stuff mate, I think you'll love it. As Little A likes to say, "coaches think, lifters lift". It's great, just turn up, do as you're told, and get better Grin.
