Cheers JC, was pretty happy, would've been happier if the 160kg had of gone to 52" an inch or two off every time.
Monday 22nd March 2010
Started new "2nd job" which today involved cycling 20 miles at a steady pace, took around 2 and a quater hours including a couple of little stops.

Kind of. Not PT rates though as its a worthy cause. Disabled client from the gym needs help prepping for a 3 day charity cycle race in France/Belgium. He has a trike he powers with his arms, he is f**king amazing - 20 miles today no bother and he is 70 years old. Taking him in the gym tomorrow to work on his power for the up-hill sections, only thing he struggles with really - great mental toughness.

Bet there's no chance of leaving at that now. Since then you've 'coincidentally' smashed your deadlift and overhead pbs have you not? Out of interest why did you leave it till now?

Yeah, it was my pressing that benefitted the most, though all lifts were up to some degree.
I never had any interest in using them for bodybuilding or powerlifting but the more I got into strongman the more the temptation grew! I think as 105kg lifter I was interested to see how I would respond size-wise (ie would they catapult me forward into the opens if I was eating plenty? - I went to 114kg and think I would easily have sat at 110+ if I had kept my calories up and would have gone up again each cycle, for a while at least). And secondly how much my strength would increase and then how much I could maintain coming back to 105kg... which we will find out soon! lol
Another factor is my age, at 36 I want a few more years competing and progressing (not saying it cant be done naturally) and wanted to see how far I could go in those two years or so.
Also you could just say I sucumbed to an overwhelming curiosity!

Thats fantastic. Takes a certain kind of person to have the dedication to train & compete in something like this. Especially at 70 years old.
