not necessarily stop lifting all together but maybe swap squats and deadlifts for curls and side raises, kind of thing...

if you have ever done this

did your moon face go away?

did you become fatter or less fat?

did your injuries go away?

was it difficult to change your lifestyle?

and if you then started again

did your strength come back easily?

did your moon face come back?

did the same injuries/niggles come back?

proceed

I lose weight. Some muscle, some fat. I look better.

I feel healthier, and my joints ache less. I find I have more time to do things.

Ultimately though, whether I'll ever be any good at it or not, lifting is a part of who I am now, and I can't see myself ever giving it up for good.

In my opinion Jack, I think you would benefit from a years worth of bodybuilding training. Choosing exercises other than squats and Deadlifts for your legs and back. (Dorian Yates never used Squats)

I think most people find powerlifting after graduating from doing some sort of bodybuilding work. The bodybuilding work creates good muscle balance and strengthens ligaments, tendons and muscles without overly stressing the body, which provides a foundation to train heavy without getting injured. You never had this foundation and consequently find yourself injury prone. Just a theory. Do whatever the f**k, you wanna do. Happy

If you want to do curls and crossfit for a couple of months Jack, you don't need our permission.

You can maintain a lot of strength with remarkably little lifting, couple of short sessions a week, and then 20 sets of curls.

I lose a lot of weight, my lower back hurts more, my upper back hurts a little less. I miss it, and find that the time gets spent doing much less useful things, like forums.

edit - I also think John might be on to something.

I stopped squatting due to fked knees.

I'm now more skinnyfat, find it easier for weight to creep up. Bench is moving up nicely. I tried doing very light leg extensions the other day - sets of 20. Knee felt fked as soon as I got off the machine. Kinda used to not squatting now, although I look silly. Top half heavy.
