JYES mate!

Today was planning to take it easy, but some trash talking about lifts, milsys top form on fronties and the youngsters not being able to take some training volume changed the plans.

Power clean & jerks
3x60
3x60
2x70
2x80
2x90
1x100
1x105
1x110
fx115 - idiot, did all the work, but didnt have the guts to catch it
"clean" only x 115, f on jerk - clean was a messy pull to chest with some wrestling to get it up. This will be the target weight for Sugden Classic.

front squats

Milsy was on top form so i needed to pull my finger out:
5x70
5x90
3x115
2x130
1x140
3x150 - pb triple

Strict press
5x60
5x70
3x80
3x85
1x90
1x92.5 - pb
10x70

first time i did these from a clean - have always done them from a rack thinking its better that way. But i found it much easier to do after cleaning it first, no idea why.

one set of rows
three sets of alternating db shoulder presses

wrecked.

I'm always impressed by those that can do "real world strength" things, like lifting huge awkwardly shaped objects (e.g. stones). For me, gym strength and powerlifting never seems to translate very well outside of the gym. When it comes to carrying a gearbox or moving a fridge, I don't seem to be much stronger than the average bloke.

That's a long-winded way of saying that your stone lifting video is awesome, I just can't imagine being able to lift a 20 stone ball from the ground to head height.

I'm sure plenty of wise men have written about this, but i think one reason is the way we warm up towards heavier weights in the gym. We always ease our bodies into handling bigger and bigger weights. In strongman you cant really do that, jumps are pretty big and at comps you dont really get a chance to warm up much at all, some general moving around, muscle heat and maybe some 20kg plate to press overhead Grin

So while you no doubt have the strength there, your body doesnt quite know how to get to use it, if that makes any sense.

+ a biscuit! 400lbs is the goal, and it doesnt sound as crackpipe now as it did when i wrote it down...

400lbs is a very solid goal for you on those fronties.

I need to get 350 out of the way first, then I can bring up the rear Grin

If you were real men you'd use tacky instead of lube.
