Agreed, must be good for a raw PB with that performance.

I use high bars for all my warm-ups. I find them really good for building up the core and 'shocking' my body into action for the heavier low bars later in the session. I do more high bar work on Saturday when I squat light and deadlift heavy. On Tuesdays when I squat heavier, I do fewer high bars.

I want to get 600+ at the South Mids in October. John and Monica Porter organized it last year and it was an awesome meet.

Hey! I'm a bit late but welcome to the site, yet another training log I'll be keeping a close eye on.

Hi Neil. Yes, our lifting is pretty similar..I'll follow yours too!

squats...60, 82.5, 95, 107.5x 5's highbars without belt....then with belt for...130x3 lowbar without wraps..added wraps for...140x4 x 3 sets...

benches..60, 82.5, 95x 5's...110x2 x 2 sets...

deads...100 and 110x 5's without belt...then with belt for...127.5x5...140 and 145x 3's...

Wrapped 140x4 set 3 of 3 - as easy as the first set. (Mind the grunting..):

BW 91.5kg tonight and I'm feeling pretty good at this size. I recover faster and I'm lifting more, my bench press in particular has responded. I think there's a big bench pb on the cards soon Happy

I was 82kg in October so nearly 10kg gain in 6 months - some of it is fat but I reckon a good deal of it is muscle. I'm thicker across the chest and shoulders and the tops of my thighs are larger. I want to be at 99-100kg as I think that would be ideal for my leverages without being so heavy that I won't be able to lose the extra weight should I decide to quit lifting (I can't see that happening any time soon!)

Thursday 10th April 2008

Bench...60...82.5...95x5's...110x2....115x2....122 .5x1....127.5x1 (PB).....132.5x1 (PB)

BOR: 60...70....75....80x10x2sets
Face pulls: 3x15
Bicep curl: 40x10x3sets

So, 2 bench PB's in one session. All singles were paused and pressed to commands as per competition. The 132.5 was pretty easy too.

300lbs will fall soon. Someone needs to go and update his league table Cool

(BW - 91kg)

thanks guys. The high volume benching that I've been doing for the last 5 weeks is paying off I think. Supports the old-school adage that nothing really improves the 3 lifts more than doing the 3 lifts themselves.
