Nice going mate - I reckon the PB might be because you had some time off and so had the chance to back off on deadlifts a bit? Might be something to ponder.

Congrats on the PB!

I think if I tried to do depth jumps and other plyo box work my knees would explode, possibly killing several other trainers with the shrapnel.

Thanks guy's, I'm sure the fact that I have inadvertantly put on 5 kilos since Feb probably has something to do with it, mind you, I was 120 kilos plus when I pulled 205!!!

Rick, my knees are killing me and I fully expect to have to crawl into work tomorrow.

Have you tried the neoprene sleeves? The make a huge difference on comfort levels for me (not that I've used them for box jumps or other impact work, but just in general). Wigan was saying today that he doesn't think he could train without them, and I agree.

Neoprene sleeves eh! Hmmm. Are they allowed in un-equipped lifting?
They sound good but I've never worn any type of wrist or knee support / bandage / sleeve before.
If i started now I could be wearing gloves in six months!

If anyone wants an entry form for the "All England" Competition in September, PM me with your e-mail address and I'll forward a copy.

They're not allowed in unequipped lifting here (though they are in the american IPF affiliate) but I have no problem just taking them off in the couple of sessions running up to the comp. I get nothing out of them but comfort anyway.

I might look into getting myself some of these neoprene knee things Rick for when I working with Max.

Wednesday 30th April.

Not many in tonight, just 9 of us. Weighed in at 113.9 kilos, nearly 2 kilos lighter that Monday but I've only eaten a bowl of porridge and an apple all day, probably why I felt really weak at the gym tonight.

Squatting with Stuart and Kevin, Benching in the cupboard on my own.

Deep Squat's
2 x 5 x 70
5 x 110
3 x 135
3 x 2 x 155
5 x 130
This was really tough. I am still suffering with a pulled muscle in my chest as a result of CnJ training with Max on Monday and every time I took the 155 out of the rack I could feel it compressing. The second 155's were all real grinders and I was grunting so much I have given myself a sore throat.

Bench
20 x 50
10 x 77.5
5 x 95
3 x 107.5 needed a touch from the spotters on the third
2 x 2 x 107.5 failed the third lift both times
3 x 5 x 90 Close Grip
Dissapointed with how heavy the 107.5 felt compared to Monday.

All in all a dissapointing evening, finished off with some jumping onto boxes, just to keep Max happy.

a bowl of porridge and an apple! I would'nt make it as far as my van in the morning if thats all I ate,at the expense of sounding boring I really think your eating is holding you back as a lifter, I honestly think
you could add 5k to all your pb's in a month with a program of proper and regular eating ! apologies if I sound like a stuck record or appear to be criticising ,as its not meant that way just my honest opinion
which given how much I know about powerlifting is probably not worth a lot! Happy

Ed, I know that my diet is s**t. After the gym tonight I managed a ham sandwich, then I went out for fish n chips at 9.

I guess like a lot of people these days I am working 10+ hours a day fitting 3 sessions a week in at the gym and grabbing food whenever possible. During the week, if I ever eat a proper meal it is either in a restaurant (or MacDonalds where I can work and eat because of their free internet access) or after 9 at night.

Friday 4th May.

A damn good crowd in at The Farm tonight, a growd crowd always makes for an enjoyable evenings training. Weighed in at 114.8 kilos, why so heavy????? Deadlifting and benching with the Old Git and Snerpjo.

Deadlift
10 x 70
5 x 110
3 x 160
2 x 170
2 x 180
5 x 150
8 x 130
No problems, session almost exactly as planned, except that the 3x160 was supposed to be 3x150 but I cannot add up.

Bench
20 x 40
10 x 70
5 x 90
2 x 100
1 x 110
1 x 115
1 x 117.5 failed twice
4 x 100 failed 5th
3 x 6 x 90 close grip
5 x 90 close grip, failed 6th.
This is the first time I have gone for some heavy singles in a good few weeks. Pleased with how easy the 115 went up which is why I am dissapointed with the fact that I could not get the 117 more than about 4 inches of my chest.

Tonights vids:

Anthony "SNERPJO" 19 years 82 kilos B/W attempts a 212.5 deadlift PB.

Ashley 14 years 52 kilos B/W attempts 125 deadlift PB

Hi mate. Been catching up on your log. Several remarks to make:

1) nice deadlift pb!

2) lol at Kevin's bar flexing attempt

3) 10+ hr days suck - I feel your pain

4) my diet btw the hours of 8 and 8 sucks too!

5) see you at the East Mids again this year? I'm bigger, stronger and sexier.

Ed, As much as I would like to, I am not going to be able to make the 17th.
Southampton would end up being a complete weekender for me and the wife seems to have other ideas for that weekend. On top of which, I am probably closer to Addlington than I am to Southampton.
