Gonna outlive my opposition !! Member 123, 4038 posts SQ 202.5, BP 135.0, DL 232.5570.0 kgs @ 117kgs UnEq | Friday 10th July. Weighed in at 113.35K so the weight is not running away from me yet. I have continued to feel sore from Saturdays exertions all week, so today was another relatively easy session. Deadlifts with the Lurkio and benching with most of the guys at the Farm tonight, Lurkie, Red Pete, Kev, Tall Paul, Big Dave, The Banker, Blondie and the Garden Bencher were all playing. Deadlift. 5 x 70 5 x 70 Sumo 5 x 90 5 x 120 3 x 140 1 x 160 1 x 180 1 x 200 1 x 190 3 x 170 3 x 160 Suprisingly less painful than I was anticipating. Bench. 20 x 20 10 x 40 10 x 60 5 x 80 3 x 100 2 x 105 1 x 110 2 x 105 5 x 100 2 x 5 x 95 Close Grip. Every final press was given a good long pause. Again less painful than I expected it to be. Finished with lots of overhead squats and pleased to report that I finally nailed 40k. Dennis is competing in the Oly lifting British Champs at the weekend and Garden Bencher is lifting at some North Midland bench only event on Sunday, so obviously he did a full session tonight.

I'm told it will help my balance and help keep my chest under the bar for proper squatting. I have to say though that I seem to fall over a lot when doing this.

Gonna outlive my opposition !! Member 123, 4038 posts SQ 202.5, BP 135.0, DL 232.5570.0 kgs @ 117kgs UnEq | Monday 13th July. A very quick session tonight. I'm off to France for a few weeks of cider, soft cheese, Bruce Springsteen and The Killers in the morning. Weighed in at 113.5 Kilos. Paused Squat down to very low box. 5 x 70 5 x 80 5 x 90 5 x 100 5 x 110 Bench. 10 x 60 5 x 80 5 x 90 5 x 100 2 x 110 1 x 120 2 x 110 Short and Sweet. Apparently the Garden Bencher won his bench only event at the North Midlands on Sunday, of course he was putting in another full session tonight. Denis came second on body weight at the BWLA Oly champs on Saturday, 135/181 for a 316 total at 94K b/W. He's a bit dissapointed because he missed his 130 opening snatch and took it again, he's been nailing 140 regular in the gym.

This festival is taking place in the field down the road later this week. http://www.vieillescharrues.asso.fr/ That should make for a good weekends lifting, I'd better get my room booked quick.

Gonna outlive my opposition !! Member 123, 4038 posts SQ 202.5, BP 135.0, DL 232.5570.0 kgs @ 117kgs UnEq | Before I start, can I just say how shocked and saddened I was to read on my return of the passing of Barrie Nelson. Powerlifting has lost a real supporter. I last spoke with him at the British seniors and he seemed in fine form. Monday 3rd August. So I'm back after nearly three weeks away. When I left I had every intention of getting into the Pontivy club and putting some good sessions in the bank. Unfortunately it did not work out that way and my entire training over the past 3 weeks consists of the following sesion: Tuesday 21st July - Pontivy. Only two people at the club, but then at 4:00PM I guess it is still early. I took my daughters boyfriend with me to help spot, good job really. Bench. 10 x 60 5 x 80 5 x 90 5 x 100 3 x 110 2 x 1 x 120 Failed both times. 1 x 110 3 x 5 x 90 Close Grip. Squat. 10 x 20 5 x 40 5 x 60 3 x 80 3 x 100 3 x 120 3 x 140 5 x 120 Not a great session but it blew a couple of cobwebs away. However, that was it until tonight. One session in three weeks! Tonight, weighed in at 114.8 Kilos. So fat! Worse still, my hands have gone soft! So just a light sesion to ease my way back in. Deadlift 2 x 5 x 70 5 x 90 5 x 110 3 x 130 2 x 150 3 x 2 x 170 5 x 150 Tough at first and rubbish form but they got easier as the session progressed. Bench 10 x 40 10 x 60 5 x 80 5 x 5 x 90 3 x 5 x 80 Close Grip. Left shoulder and both wrists and both kness are hurting now, whatsmore, my palms are burning. Just 20 days to the All England and I am way overweight and out of shape. I think that I will just use the competition as a heavy training session, not worry about my weight and concentrate on getting it right at the Brits in October.

Gonna outlive my opposition !! Member 123, 4038 posts SQ 202.5, BP 135.0, DL 232.5570.0 kgs @ 117kgs UnEq | Thanks Ed, I've volunteered you for spotting and loading. Wednesday 5th August. Weight is now down to 113.4 Kilos, however all I have eaten today is 2 bannanas! Probably why I felt light headed at the gym tonight. Plus the weather here in Northampton is sooooo muggy, 24 degrees and steaming, we could do with a good thunderstorm. Weighed 112.6 after training! Training tonight between long discussions regarding the All England competition. We still need to resolve the scoreboard issue and we would like to improve on the catering from last year. We also need to get the college to give us internet broadband in the main hall. Shirt designs also being finalised. Back to training, another lightish session. Easing my way back in. Squat. 5 x 70 5 x 90 5 x 110 3 x 130 2 x 150 1 x 160 2 x 2 x 150 5 x 130 No serious problems, all way too deep though. Arse cheeks seem to be hurting now though. Bench. 10 x 60 8 x 80 5 x 5 x 100 2 x 5 x 90 Close Grip. Picked it up a bit from Monday. The 100's felt tougher than they should have. I joined a poncy council run gym yesterday in an attempt to inject a little more cardio into my life. Whilst there I noticed that they had a few Oly plates and a single bar and squat rack, I also noticed a sign on the wall stating that the best single squat this year was 150K and the best bench was 127K. Hmmmm. Trouble is, when I counted up all their plates they only have 160K, including the bar.

Gonna outlive my opposition !! Member 123, 4038 posts SQ 202.5, BP 135.0, DL 232.5570.0 kgs @ 117kgs UnEq | Well, I started my original log entitled "Long Term Target" on the 8th August 2006. Just about 3 years ago. That long term target was to qualify for the British Un-Equipped Championships. At the time I had never competed in a competition and was some way short (as well as 8 Kilos over my target bodyweight) of reaching the qualifying totals. Today I have in front of me my GBPF invitation to compete in this years event. It will go in the post tonight. I'll see you all in Bournemouth.
