Friday 12th.

Working away at the office today so got to the gym fairly late, consequently tonights session was a bit rushed. Little Pete was in with the cupboard keys so I managed to weigh myself, I came in at a pleasing 116.6 kilos, first time under 117 kilos for a month.

Benching with Mark, Larry and three new guy's (Wayne, Gary and something else). Squatting on my own.

Bench
3 x 10 x 35 close / wide / normal
10 x 60
5 x 90
3 x 105
1 x 115
1 x 125 got stuck about 6 inches up and needed a touch from the spotters, managed to lock it out on my own though
1 x 112.5 should have been 2
2 x 112.5 yes
1 x 112.5 should have been 2
3 x 100 close grip
7 x 90 close grip
12 x 80 close grip
Not too dissapointed with this, the 125 would have been a new PB and certainly this was the first time I have doubled 112.5.

Squat
5 x 70 full
5 x 110 full
5 x 130 box squats
5 x 150 box squats
3 x 160 box squats
2 x 170 box squats
1 x 180 box squat
Everybody else had gone home by this point and I was running late so no spotters and it was all a bit rushed, all the box squats were down to the bench and paused the 180 was easy, but the 2nd 170 was tough.

I've got a long day on the beer tomorrow so I think I'll have to pace myself a bit. Saints v's Doncaster in the afternoon, immediately followed by a Chinese to celebrate my oldest daughters blokes birthday, then over to the pub to watch the England v France game. It could be a good hangover on Sunday.

Where were you Ed? I talked Mark into giving a squatting masterclass for your benefit and you don't turn in. Mark was most dissapointed.

What a weekend. Very heavy on the Guinness and very heavy on the pies. No suprise then that I weighed in 2 kilos heavier than on Friday at 118.6 kilos. A good crowd in tonight, including Kevin who was in for the first time since his win at the worlds. We also had a visit from the local newspaper who came down to take his photo, interview him and stuff. I tried to convince them that I was Kevin (world champion) but they took one look at me and laughed.

Lots of chat tonight and not too much training. Benching and deadlifting on my own whilst Mark gave the new lads an "in depth" training session on correct squatting technique?????

Pleased with this, I had only doubled 112.5 once before tonight so to double it 5 times is good. I can attempt to move up to doubles at 115 next.

DeadLift

Not much volume I know but I am fairly pleased that the 190 came up, despite being a bit of a grinder.

I'm going to be in Scotland (Glasgow) on business on Thursday and Friday this week anybody know where I can get a good (cheap also springs to mind) workout on Friday afternoon / early evening?

Wednesday 17th October.

Considering the footie was on it was fairly busy at the gym tonight. Weighed in at 116.5 kilos so the weekends excesses are now out of the system. Squatting with Kevin and Stuart. Benching with Kevin, Mark, Stuart, Larry and Wayne.

Squat.

3 x 140
1 x 160
1 x 170
1 x 180 PB YESSSSSS.
3 x 150
5 x 130
Good session, the 180 and the 3rd 150 were bloody hard work but they went all the way down and then came all the way back up. Very pleased.

Bench

A bit dissapointed with this, the plan was to do 3 x 2 x 115 in the middle but the first 115 felt so heavy I knew that a second was not on, consequently upped the weight a little and did singles. The whole bench session felt sort of wrong tonight. Can't explain why though.

I'll be in Glasgow now until Saturday so no more training until next Monday.

I'll think about it whilst I am sunning myself on the beach for a couple of weeks. After Wednesdays session I will be out of the country until Monday 12th Novemeber. It could be a good laugh though so I'll let you know when I get back.

Monday 22nd.
Had a long day in London today, horrible, dirty place it is. Consequently got to the gym after 5 expecting it to be half empty, how wrong could I have been, over twenty guys lifting tonight, just 60 days until we close for good and the place is busier than ever. Had the requisite full english this morning so pleased to have weighed in at 117.2 kilos. Benching with Kevin, Stuart, Mark, Pete the Chair and a couple of others. Deadlifting on my own as most of the guys had started a couple of hours before I got to the gym.

Kevin was in the local paper last Friday. Check this out.

Not sure wether to be pleased or pissed about this session. Doubled 115 for the first time and hit 4 reps at 105 for the first time, however the 125 was dismal, could not move it off my chest, at least the last time I tried it I got it up with a little help from the spotters.

Dead Lift

3 x 160
2 x 180
1 x 195
2 x 180
3 x 160

I am pleased with this, the whole Dead Lift session was completed in around 30 minutes and I was loading and unloading the bar myself. The 195 flew off the floor but was a bit of a grind to lock out. Still, it is the best I have managed since the competition in July.

It is not looking good on the search for a new venue for the Farm Weightlifting Club, the last place we looked at wanted £6,000 a year plus another £6,000 a year in rates for a poxy little place with an outside toilet. We have an income of under 4 grand a year so there is not much hope at the moment.

good stuff mate. I wouldn't worry about missing 125 after a 1st time double at 115 to be honest. Things are looking good.
