It's been put a bit further down the list OJ due to me A) recently buying a car and B) planning next years mid life crisis Ducati purchase, and C) planning my 2017 USA coast to coast run on a hired Harley. I have to time this so that I'm in Arizona at noon on the 7th of June when I high ball over the pass. What can I say? I grew up with Convoy.
I have iron's in the fire that may bring all this forward a touch, but we'll see.

Someone I know here tried to cycle across they US. He got to thirty five miles from the finish and got hit by a bus! The previous year he tried to row the Atlantic as part of a four man team - 13 days in their boat capsized and they had to shelter for 7 hours in the upturned boat whilst waiting to be rescued!

It's somewhat embarrassing but I won't be able to see that Unhappy I'll bring my kindle.

Your mate sounds unlucky Steve. I'm assuming that he recovered from both ordeals? Did he do any other adventurous deeds?

Fair dos mate, would rather see it go to a good home so thought I'd ask. I'd have the Ducatti too if I had enough fun tokens. One day. Although actually it'd be an R1. You should bring the Ducatti here though. Amazing roads all over Italy.

I will cycle across America one day hopefully without being hit by a bus

I plan on getting over to Europe at least once a year to get my $$$'s worth, and there's quite a lot of places I'd like to go. Florence, Milan etc. Zagan is another so I can bow my head and raise a glass to 'the 50'.

How long do you reckon for a coast to coast ride? and what route would you fancy? I also hope you don't get hit by a bus.

Power clean EMOM working in with Jeff. 2 reps, 1 rep... for 20 minutes, and a good bit comfier than we both thought. So, we carried on with 1 on 1 off and did about another 10 each. Don't think I can actually do much more for a single so any improvements would need more reps, which needs a bit of thought, and maybe trial and error. I like this stuff though.

Having not done any OL for a year or so I then thought that the most sensible thing to do would be max snatch.
20x few x few, and it all hurt
50x few
70x1
80x1
90x1 I suspect that it was technically as ugly as the faces Jeff was pulling watching me do them, but it's a bwt snatch. Tres bon. Work needs to be done before I launch my come back though.

Proper stuff working in with Fat Pete
alt DB curl 10,10,10,10

Seated concentration curl 8,8,8 Pete bottled these. If you can't stand the heat and all that.

Good to see everyone again. May do it again at some point.

He does. Only thing he moaned about was being away from home for 3 hours for a workout that could have been done at home. Colin doesn't like mileage as much as Penny does.

little_a said:Fair shout Nick. You inspired me to recon previously said gym and see if they have any time for a middle aged and clueless novice. If they don't I'm as well carrying on as I am with my Rocky soundtrack and cramped conditions. I'm on call this week so it may be next. I'll report back. I did try one place local to me a while back (twice) but they were really busy with the young uns which, whilst I understand completely it wasn't much use to me, so I didn't bother again. Unhappy

I am a clueless middle aged novice and have recently started training at an mma gym and its great fun , the training in the boxing classes is virtually all either working on combinations and how to punch properly or sparring . The vast majority of people you spar with are fairly sensible about it and are not going out to take your head off(there is always the odd exception) , I bruise fairly easily and have not had a black eye or any major bruising as of yet. I think these style of gyms have changed a lot , many many years ago I did some boxing and it was very much about getting in and smashing f**k out of each other , nowadays these places are much more business savvy and realise that a lot of people wont come back if they are getting battered every week and tailor the training to suit. Having said that the potential for a black eye is always there when punches are being thrown.I would highly recommend it for soothing the mid life crisis

Enjoyed the Power cleans, but we could have gone all night which makes you think a different approach is needed. Either cut it to 30 seconds, increase the reps, or add a press/jerk to the PC. This type of stuff is quite fun though, no where near as painful as heavy stuff!!

The snatches weren't as bad as my fizzog may have indicated. You just looked tight in the soldiers, it will be all the buff stuff you've been doing!! Grin

Thanks Ed. Me and my Mrs are going to have a look at a local gym tonight. There's one week in 3/4 where I'm on call and need to be phone ready at a minutes notice (this week), but we'll go for a look with a view to starting next week.

I enjoyed them and no ill effects today which is good. We do need more reps though. Adding more weight is taking us back to where we've just come from. I worked out last night that 30 with 100K is actually less tonnage than 40 with 80K. 90K 30 secs for 20 mins next goal? I'd make the trip for that.

I think my days of just walking up and doing this stuff are over. Wouldn't take a great deal to put it right, but I will have to do it if I want to avoid you gurning at my endeavours. I blame my all new, tiny but present pectoral development

90k one off one on would be good, who needs 30 seconds?? Or 90x2 every 30 seconds
