I'm rubbish, but it's good fun and it might mean I won't get fat! Going to get myself a racket on Wednesday and see if I can't play at least a couple of times per week from now on. Advantage Porter!

For Kettle, For Country! Member 81, 1706 posts SQ 182.5, BP 120, DL 227.5530.0 kgs @ 90kgs UnEq | Rob I was thinking of trying a tiny bit more on the doubles next week (maybe 117) and then going for paused doubles the week after that. Haven't got long now so I need to practice some pauses with heavy weight imo. Ed I think I would love a 120 at the comp but that might be too big an ask with the pause, 115 might be more realistic. I've changed my mind slightly on my openers on the bench, I'm now thinking 105/115/120? to make that a possibility. Dunno. As for a touch n go PB I would like to think I could pull off a 120 now if I went for it in training. Might have a bash after the comp. Boar said: fatter! Just more of me to love grasshopper

For Kettle, For Country! Member 81, 1706 posts SQ 182.5, BP 120, DL 227.5530.0 kgs @ 90kgs UnEq | OK, so perhaps for the next couple of weeks I should do heavy paused doubles, then still finish off with the 10 repper? Perhaps I could try to work up to 2 x 105 paused next week and 2 x 110 paused the week after, sound like a good plan?

I am a bench-only guy Member 3, 10035 posts SQ 185, BP 175, DL 235595.0 kgs @ 140kgs UnEq Administrator | Joe would tell you to be backing off the assistance work soon, if not abandoning it completely. Your call really. I would be looking for near-limit paused doubles, but not pushing hard enough to be near failure. It would be a massive help if you could get handoffs for the remaining sessions, to get used to it, as it does make a huge difference to most lifters (certainly does me!).

For Kettle, For Country! Member 81, 1706 posts SQ 182.5, BP 120, DL 227.5530.0 kgs @ 90kgs UnEq | OK I'll go for that, if she's around to help. Thanks. Wednesday 14th May Squat: 50 x 5, 90 x 5, 120 x 3, 140 x 3, 120 x 3. Paused speed bench: 50 x 5, 60 x 5, 70 x 5. DL: 90 x 3, 130 x 3, 170 x 1, 200 x 1, 220 x 1, 180 x 3. Squats felt super comfy and I did them ATG. Took it easy on bench today too, just trying to get used to pausing and exploding off the chest. Deadlifting 220 is still heavy but these days it never feels like it won't come up. Suspect I'm not good for a double though, or perhaps it's just because I'm a little baby who wants mummy after I've done one rep so I run off sobbing instead of manning up and doing another. Who knows...? It's a f**king mystery!
