Cheers guys, yeah I was well chuffed for that session, although I'm beginning to wonder if I have masochist tendencies with doing running the day after but there you go.

Tuesday 4th June

Went for a fastish 4.5km run. Pace 5:22/km. Hurt like hell in the legs and the lower back, but you know what they say... Neil's an loon.

Tuesday 5th June

DL: 90 x 5, 140 x 5, 160 x 3 (see video), 180 x 1 (see video), 190 x 1 (PB! see video), 160 x 3. 4-5mins rest between.
Widegrip chins: BW x 3 x 8. 2mins rest between.
BB rows: 60 x 3 x 8. 2mins rest between.
BB curls: 36 x 3 x 8. 2mins rest between.

160 x 3

180 x 1

190 x 1 PB!

Well considering last week when I did my PB of 182.5kg I had a little bit left over I went for another this week... and I got it! 190kg. Can't grumble about that. It was a bit more of a grind than last week so definitely closer to any kind of real maximum I am capable of. Therefore for the next few weeks I am going to restrict myself to 5s and 3s and no more 1RM.

Also I've put up the 160kg x 3 video so you can see I'm pausing more between reps. I hope that's more like it.

Congrats mate your weights are flying atm. That 190 looked good. That amount of pause on your deadlift is good but the slow descent isn't necessary in my opinion. I just let the bar drop once it reaches my knees on all my working sets. This is just my opinion tho. The weights you use may chip your floor so that may be why you lower the bar slowly.

P.S you mental running after squatting Tongue

great grind !!

you should put the plates on 1.5" planks as they are way to low, of course it will pay dividends when you have a go with olympic plates that are higher, either way 190 is a great lift and 200 is an attainable goal for the summer

Cardio king haha!

Thanks for the comments. Yeah I hope I can get a 200 in the summer - I'll certainly try at some point!

Hayden, yeah I'm a little concerned about dropping them too much because I only have two rubberised 20kg weights and the rest are just regular. On a concrete floor there would be a problem in the long term I think. Besides I'm guessing by lowering it slowish I'm not doing myself a disservice exercise wise? Maybe if I do raise them up 1.5" as per Mr Boar's recommendation I might start banging it down a bit harder.

Wedneday 6th June

Did a really gentle 5.5km. It started out normal but turned 'gentle' when I realised how hot it was. I'm going to have to start running early, which means getting up REALLY early so my porridge has settled Happy I'll try Friday morning because I'm meeting a mate at 9:30 for a 10km jog.

Thursday 7th June

Bench: 51 x 6, 61 x 6, 84 x 5 x 5. 4-5mins rest between.
Dips: BW+9kg x 3 x 8. 2mins rest between.
DB shoulder press: 21 x 3 x 8. 3mins rest between.
push downs: 26 x 3 x 8. 2mins rest between.

Not a lot to say about that. I'm making steady progress on the bench so I'll be going for 85 x 5 x 5 next week.

Mate cancelled yesterday on the run and anyway I ended up knocking down a wall and taking it to the dump, so I didn't get anything done yesterday. Today I'm playing football (son's footy club are having an end of season Mamas vs Papas 'fun' afternoon) so that will have to count for my cardio. I'll sneak in a legs session tomorrow doubled up with my extra bench session.

Managed to jar my back a little yesterday while playing football. Wouldn't have minded so much if it had resulted in a goal or something, but I think I simply landed on my arse for no good reason. Hey ho. Therefore I took it super easy today on my squats just in case it's a problem rather than a temp niggle.

Sunday 10th June

12" botty squats: 71 x 6, 91 x 5 x 5. 4mins rest between
hanging leg raises: 14 x 3 x 8. supersetted with the last 3 sets above.
Bench: 51 x 6, 71 x 3, 91 x 5 x 3. 4mins rest between.

Apart from the squats which were done at a kind of warm up weight I'm pretty pleased with that. I feel like I'm getting a better feel for where (and when!) my arse, knees, back, etc. should be during the squat. All being well next week I'll be able to make more of an effort weight wise.

Tuesday 12th June

DL: 90 x 6, 140 x 5 (fast as possible), 165 x 3 x 5, 140 x 5 (fast as possible). 4mins rest.
WG Chin: BW x 3 x 8. 2mins rest
BB rows: 60 x 3 x 8. 2mins rest supersetted with curls below
BB curls: 36 x 3 x 8.

Found the 3 sets of 165kg deadlifts tough, but I managed to get them out OK. Decided to add an extra 140kg fast set at the end just to make sure I couldn't walk upright for a couple of days Happy
