Are you trying to mindf**k me? I think you've made great progress in a year, 2 unofficial world records, very impressive. But don't forget I'm still getting better, in all honesty I've just started training seriously since you did your 802 total, so you could say I've only been training for 6 months!

f**king hell...

Rob, I've never had a problem with you and I've never said anything out of place to you, in fact I've gone out of my way not to on purpose for obvious reasons. The last thing I want to do is start playing the internet 'mindf**k' game, but you really do make it difficult sometimes...

Comments such as

'Why would a 5x World Champion, 2x World Games Winner, multiple british record holder and a guy who has trained 2 world champions not get how you train! With a whole year of lifting behind you, you must be more clued up than them.'

just come across as if you're trying to make me look like a dick, not to mention belittling me for my lack of experience.

You can play it off as banter if you want, and I'll continue not having any problem with you, but it's not a game I'm interested in playing.

Come in my training log with the intention of making me look like a t**t however, and I MIGHT every now and again reply with something like that...

MarkClegg said:Steve - the bedroom remark wasn't just directed at you my old friend but everyone who seems to be coming in Toms journal and even being slightly negative towards the boys programme ..

He uses his journal to give an honest open view of what he is trying to achieve and how he means to achieve it .. I can pick out many journals of a powerlifter doing a standard "template" Roll-Eyes Or whatever it is you people call it but this is a guy who believes he can push him self harder to achieve better results .

So coming in here disagreeing with Tom is basically disagreeing with his opinions and how can his "opinions" be wrong ? and I never remember Tom saying that he believes others should train the way he does or that he was better than anyone else ..

He has had a negative welcoming into Powerlifting !! I don't give a f**k what anyone else might say ! He has ..

Steve did I Snatch and Clean and Jerk upto Maximum three times a week ???? Does that question even need answering ?? Well of course I did ! For about 10 years !! I certainly didn't reach a 170kg Snatch through going "WestSide" or following a Wendler or what ever the f**k he's called !!

Excellent post. It does seem tom has gotten a hard time for no reason?

I do find it odd that toms training gets such a 'you cant recover from that'. Every other sport trains stupid amounts at the high level. When I was a rower at university we used to train twice a day and rarely have days off, and we were crap Grin

Im for high frequency, our crapness was the result of other factors (physical size/access to water to row on/crap set of boats etc). Most olympic rowing teams trains 3 times a day for 27 days out of 28. As Tim foster put it 'the point of the days training was to get you to the point of extreme tiredness and then keep you there as long as possible'

Dont know why there is even a debate TBH

The majority of WL train heavy, several times a week/multiple times a day

dont see why anyone would them assume PL'ers cant do the same

thats whats good about powerlifting JC, you can go to the gym twice a week for an hour get stronger and still have time to do your 60+ hours a week digging holes and take the nippers to the park at the weekend.

I thrive on high frequency (squat/bench 3-5 times a week); however surely frequency in PL in an individual thing. I'm sure most can train more, but would it be optimal or practical (esp with the constant spotting required in Eq PL). Would Andy Bolton deadlift 500kg if he deadlifted 3 times a week rather then 1?

When you get to that sort of level you can do whatever the hell you want frankly, nobody can say he is better off doing this or that.
