Really pleased with your bench there today Tom, each rep that you got down with was better than the last. We need to look at your foot placement or footware as the outer is not in contact with the floor and you may pick up red lights, try and work on keeping your feet flat on light day by experimenting with different positions. See you next time.

cheers kev, I saw you coaching, looks like you know what you're doing, maybe you can sort my jerk out sometime, I have an interest in the Olympic lifts too, especially when I'm sprinting, just s**t at getting anything overhead!

Yeah we can do some overhead work wen ever you like mate, tbh olympic is blessed with quite a few overhead monsters.

cheers bryn. I was trying something new with my foot placement and didn't realise they weren't planted properly, let me know next time if I'm still doing it.

started with some overhead pressing, jerk style with some guidance from kev!

60kg x 5
80kg x 3 - were quite nice!
100kg x 1 - really comfortable but technique fell apart a bit, will try more next time

high board press (14cm )

bar x 5
60kg x 5
100kg x 3

shirt on

140kg x 3
160kg x 2
170kg x f - wouldve got it but it wasn't great and my spotter jumped in
170kg x 1 - felt better than 160kg,=pb
180kg x 1 - really nice and even rep, easy 10kg pb
190kg x f - wouldve got 185, lost the groove a bit on the way down

a good days board pressing! managing to hold 190kg over my face and not snap my weedy little arms was a nice surprise, I certainly won't be scared of getting under it again

finished with some gay ab/core work because bicep tendons were too inflamed to do anything else

this sounds farmiliar, and is the reason why i did sldl the day after squatting. you need to increase your training capacity in your hamstrings, they will always feel like that the first time you do sldl, but it gets better quickly the more you do them. that's whyy first week was with 140kg, it was an easy weight that I could recover from twice a week. as you gradually increase the weight, your training capacity increases

Dumbell Bench Press

50lbs x 10
70lbs x 5
80lbs x 5
100lbs x 5

nothin special just gettin back into doing these

2 Board Press

100kg x 5

Shirt on

140kg x 5
160kg x 1

Down to 1 board

150kg x 1 - Misloaded, ment to be 160kg, one side was missing a 10kg plate though, don't trust anyone to load the bar for you!

Surprised I even managed to press this to be honest considering the uneven loading

160kg x 1, a bit rough but it went up

I recon I'm not far off pressing 160 from the chest, would like to be more convincing on the 1 board though

Messed about with some jerks, trying the one that doesnt involve a split stance, think I like it more

60kg x 3
80kg x 3
90kg x 3
100kg x 1 - pressed it out, but im not competing in olympic lifting anyway, I just like putting stuff overhead

Can't rememebr exactly what else I did but it involved some barbell rows, and some dicking about with one of them strongman log things out of curiosity.

Benched often this week, but really low volume, recovering fine and not concerned Happy Squat and deadlift on hold till sunday.

Just had a scan over your log Tom, great read! Your probably sick of hearing this, but I'll say it anyway ... your deadlift is absolutely superb, awesome work mate!

Sounds like your getting to grips with the bench shirt well, good luck for the British juniors buddy!

A few highlights from the last couple days

Bench Press

112.5kg x 5
120kg x 4 - probably best that's been since before north wests, been a bit disappointed with raw strength recently, been concentrating on learning the shirt so it's suffered a bit, but this was quite promising

Equipped Bench

135kg x 1 - lowest weight i've touched, pressed nice and easy
150kg x 1 - pb, more to come hopefully

Squat fully equipped

220kg x 3

Deadlift

265kg x 1

I feel like going for 310kg soon, in 2 minds wether or not to attempt it, i'm nearly 5 weeks out from the british juniors so it probably won't harm me

Squat

cheers mate, believe me I never get tired of hearing that, I just wish my squat and bench were good enough to recieve the same comments, but we'll see in time!

really can't be bothered updating this so it'll be quick

220kg x 3 equipped squat. 2nd rep was awful, it had no right going up, completely lost the line on the way down

270kg x 1 deadlift easy
300kg x 1 18" deadlift. far too hard

messed about with big tire, not so tough is it!

safety bar squats, was curious, they're actually really hard!

120kg x 3

Havent been on this site in ages since just after i joined i pretty much quit powerlifting lol but recognised your name bud as I've been attempting to become a sprinter since and saw you won BUCS indoor last year, are you not gonna compete this year? Very strong lifts indeed, looks like you may need some technique work on some fo your equipped stuff considering your raw strength mind.
