Only 2.5 pound overweight this morning pre dump. I won't see 90 again though, mate!

Overhead Press

20 for 10
30 for 8
40 for 5
52.5 for 5 x 3 sets
40 for 5 x 3 sets.

Deadlifts

40 for 8
50 for 5
60 for 5
70 for 5
92.5 for 3 x 5 sets
80 for 5
50 for 10

Plate Raises

3 sets of 15 with 20 kilo plate

Facepulls

Sets of 10 with 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.

OHs felt heavy on 52.5s, but I got my three fives out. If I can keep improving by 2.5 a week I'll have the world record within a couple of years. Deads felt harder today as well. The first two sets with 92.5 were real grinds, but I sorted out my technique/head/warmed up properly or whatever and the last three sets were fine. I deliberately chose 92.5, because that's half the weight I need to qualify. That seemed a long way away today!

John WW was awesome on bench today. 140 x 6, 150 x 4, 155 x 3, 160 x 2!Eek

Heavy Bench tonight.

Bar for 10
40 for 10
60 for 8
80 for 6
100 for 4
120 for 3
140 for 2

Loose 48 on and

180 for 1 off 4 inch board
180 for 1 off 2 inch board
180 for 1 (didn't quite get a touch with it).

Shirt off, one purple band on, and

60 for 5
100 for 5
110 for 5
120 for 5
130 for 1 (woo hoo)
140 for 1 (woo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo)
110 for 5
100 for 5

Band off and flush set - 100 for 10. That was that.

Delighted with tonight's session. I wanted to use the bigger shirt tonight to sort out my opener for the British. The equipped lifts all flew up, although I didn't quite get a touch with the third one. The adrenaline will get it down on the day, plus I'll be 5 pounds lighter. I'll spend the time between now and March breaking it in gradually.

The pair with 140 on the way up felt silly light, so I thought I might be onto a good one tonight. I'm really delighted to get 140 plus a band - and that was near the end of a heavy session.

There were 6 of us training tonight. John WW pissed a raw 170, Moz ground out a raw 170 as well, and a new lad training for the first time with powerlifters did 107.5. Not bad for a 20 year old 75 kilo lifter! Bags of potential.

Thanks Ed. On reflection, I think I probably felt stronger in the gym last night than I have ever done in my life. Is it a coincidence that I've just loaded with creatine? Probably not. But I think it's also the hard structured work of the last few months beginning to pay off. Doing 140 plus a band is crazy. Thinking about things last night, the next thing is that I've got to lose my fear of numbers. It's just a bar to be moved and there's people to help me if I can't. In my head 140 is still really heavy, 160 is massive... But 140 ain't heavy any more. Probably not explained that very well.

John's a nice lad but 100% frustration, mate. He still hasn't joined either fed this year. I just have this feeling he won't compete this year. He's leaving me behind strength-wise, but just doesn't have the mindset to use it. He could probably win the BWLA M1 title this year if he put his mind to it. I'm giving up telling him to be honest. You just get to the point when you feel you're nagging rather than helping. He knows when the next comp is...

And the 140? Yes, I know how it sounds, but honestly it just flew up last night.Happy Ban creatine - it's performance enhancing!

And any men under 50...

And anyone who can't bench more than Little_a can snatch...

Wish I'd discovered creatine a long time ago.

Just make sure that it doesnt lead to a drop in standards. I think I read that long term use of creatine can eventually lead to heroin and cocaine addiction, or I may of dreampt it, or indeed made it up. My short term memory isnt what it was. I'm sure it had nothing to do with creatine though, but dont quote me on thatUnhappy

I know exactly what you're saying ,in my own head 100k is heavy as that was my first target and milestone
I need to get past it now that I've done it and realise that 100k is not heavy at all ,its all about perspective really, for somone who's never lifted weights before 100k seems very heavy but with training
it's a weight most people can attain eventually .I definitely need to start believing I can lift more
,I'm a firm believer that if you think you can do something you generally will whereas if you dont think you can do it chances are you wont! very easy to say not so easy to accomplish!

I could have written that! But I chose to leave it to Ed Grin

Absolutely agree with this. For me 100 has always been "heavy". however, now it isn't any longer. Not because it is suddenly "easy" as such, just that it is something that I wouldn't fail. My mental barrier is currently on 120.
I think my max bench is around this mark or a bit over, but there is a good chance I wouldn't get it because in my head 120 is heavy/too heavy for me.

I am trying to trick my way around this barrier by doing board and declines with more than this weight so hopefully when i try it I will have already done it and the stigma is gone-hopefully.

Deadlifting Tuesday. Trained with John WW and Joey, who lift a bit more than me...

50 for 8
60 for 5
80 for 5
92.5 for 4
92.5 for 4. Felt too light, so...
100 for 4
100 for 4
100 for 4
120 for 1 (PB)
130 for fail.

Lat Pulldowns, short bar - Hole 12 for 8; 14 for 8; 17 for 5 (ham cramped up!!)
Seated T Bar Rows (narrow grip) - Hole 10, 3 sets of 10.

Another deadlift pb! The plan was 5 sets of 4 with 92.5, but it wasn't testing enough so I upped it to 100 for the last three sets. Legs are fine, back still feels as if it could go anytime. I was persuaded to go for a 1RM on 120, which was fine. I tried 130 but really didn't commit to the lift and pulled out of it about three inches off the floor. Now 65 kilos away from the qualifying standard and closing...
