Whatever it was, I'm sure he can't have been advocating using the stretch reflex during the first pull.

yeah he was not.

but about the fast first pull, thats what he says that in the past they used to be slow in the first pull and then bang it up, but nowdays lifters just start fast off the deck to generate more speed. I dont know, dont quote me, i might be misquoting the big man as well Grin

You don't want stretch reflex in Olympic lifts. They should be plenty light enough that you have no trouble getting them off the floor - the point of the first pull is just to get you into position to perform the second pull correctly. You don't need to be generating speed off the floor.

alan doesnt play that way. he believes in generating speed right off the deck, so thats what i aim to do Cool

I thought I was agreeing with Alan as against what Tony suggested - so now I'm not sure I understand what Alan's advice was in the first place. Whatever it was, I'm sure he can't have been advocating using the stretch reflex during the first pull.

Well, you get a good couple of seconds before the stretch reflex gets lost anyway, as I understand it. But certainly Alan believes in pulling the olympic lifts off the deck fast rather than not.

Strongman at The Dungeon!

Pressing strength has gone to s**t. I think it has to do with me stopping doing heavy narrow grips quite a while back. Anyways back to the drawing board. Made it up a bit in the other events i guess, but generally i am feeling pretty weak at the moment. Can't blame it all on weight loss Wink

IFSA log press
3x70
3x70
3x70
2x80
1x87.5
1x95
2xfx95 - wtf, pressing line all over the place, tank empty, wtf
6x80

farmers walks
40mx30
40mx70
20mx100
30mx120 - pb, but i should have made 40m with a bit more heart and fighting spirit.
10mx120 - to bring the farmers back

yoke
2x20mx80
20mx160
20mx240 - dropped it, lost balance trying to go faster
20mx290 - as far as i remember i didnt drop it, but it was on the slow side
2x20cmx350kg Grin, so basically just two pickups, with a wee bit of a hold and couple steps. We will have our work cut out for us aiming to nail 20mx360kg by next summer Grin

log overhead lockouts
cant remember, played with 110kg fair bit and 120 was nailed i think or something like that

Yeah, a PB on farmers and yoke isn't a bad session at all! Like Will said, build the volume back up on the log and you'll be in pb territory in no time.

aye in all it wasnt that bad, but it must be my worst log pressing session so far in terms of PB & nailed weight difference!

sleep apnea - difficult to tell because i dont notice it myself. But i am still snoring, so the diet continues!

Guys, which one would you choose:

a) get to 110 quickly and then stabilise it well before the comps so dieting wont disturb the build up, or
b) continue the slow ass weight loss and drop about 0.5kg per week all the way to the comp

?

To me that is like choosing between the electric chair or lethal injection. I'd just get it over with the quickest then I could just be left dead in peace. So I'd lose the weight first then concentrate on getting strong/not being depressed.

Inhales the pipe : I honestly think that, unless we get injured, all three of us will nail that 360kg X 20m yoke in 6 or 7 months. I KNOW that I will!

yeah man, now we just need to come up with a plan on how we do it? It is practically in the bag already Grin

SUNDAY MORNING WEIGH IN:

112.9kg

whoah! Can i see a rib? No, that was just a shadow. Powerbelly is not really budging, only slightly. Cant see it moving much even when hitting 110kg.
