Some excellent, grade A quality trash talking on here!!

Neil - I am disappointed for your low regard of my pressing! I made 6 reps with the same apparatus at the same weight in training a few weeks ago! Tongue

It is going to be an excellent comp. Here are my predictions for the Joni vs Jono battle:

Viking press:

Me: 7 reps
Joni: 4 reps

Deadlift:

Me: 9 reps
Joni: 10reps

Conans:

Me: 4 revolutions
Joni: 3 revolutions

Medley:

Me: Just shy of finishing the chain
Joni: A few metres behind

Stones:

Me: All but the last one are very likely to go up, but the last one is 147kg, so it might be a struggle after 2 135kg stones
Joni: Will struggle with the first 135kg stone, might make it, but unlikely to nail the second one.

well has it insprired you to prove me wrong hope so as a it good to have some thig to fuel the fire even more

last session before the comp today:

power snatch
few x bar
3x2x50
1x60
1x65
1x70
fx75 - didnt puill high enough
1x75 - great feeling to nail a snatch which is close to your max and you have to put proper effort into it
1x77.5kg - nice new pb, had to work hard there
2xfx80 - the killer 2.5kg increase is often too much. Main problem is not having the bottle to dive under the bar, the pull was ok in the last attempt.
2x50

power clean & split jerk

went up to 70 and then started failing already at 85 due to being pretty knackered from snatches.

moral of today: when the lifts are so new to me, its hard work to do these on the same day. Also that the oly lifts are harder work than they look on paper Grin

front squats
5x70
3x115
2x135

felt solid, but decided against heroics so close to the comp.

Chest supported row 3 heavy sets
rear delt raises 2 sets
one pump set of gunz

feeling great.

haha, quite! Grin Cheers though!

yes, lemon fresh does smell divine, snatch is currently my favourite lift for sure.

Feeling very stiff today, this oly lifting malarky can be taxing, though i was quite stiff and hammered before yesterdays session already. I think an extreme jacuzzi session is in order.

Nice to meet you at the British Jonnie ,did'nt realise you were such a big lad!

Got loads of questions for you about getting protien from vegetable sources as I need to get more protien in my diet but find it difficult to consume hugh ammounts of animal protiens and I feel loads better when I have a high vegetable intake! I not talking about supplements but just natural foods which have higher ammounts of protein!
What would you recomend?

I know I asked you about this at the British but I have a s**te memory and the only thing I can remember is nuts and seeds!

good luck for your competition today hope all the traveling has'nt drained your energy!

It was great to meet you as well man! Too bad had to cut our quality chat short when we were just on our way out of the door, next time mate!

I take faily holistic approach to this, protein is solid, but due to the bulls**t fed by supplement companies via muscle comics folk tend to put way too much emphasis on it to be honest.

As vegan i just stop thinking food as protein source, or carb source, or fat source, and rather emphasise protein rich foods for instance. But there are solid protrein sources as well, like different soya products like tofu, tempeh, seitan, loads of soya and wheat protein based meaty like products from burgers to sausages, "mock duck" or chicken or what ever, there are loads of these things out there and to be honest i love it Grin

The other sources are pulses like beans and lentils (which i should eat more of, healthy s**t), nuts and seeds and the millions of things mdae out of them like butters and stuff, are also high in protein and healthy fats.

So its not really a problem at all to me to be honest. It was good to hear your wife has also dabled with vegan eating!

ok, now back to writing my comp report... Wink

Dumfries and Galloway Stongest Man comp report

I had my highs and lows, overall went s**t, and f**king up two events meant that placing went accordingly. It was great to see so many guys entering the comp, 19 overall. It was exelently run, relaxed but prompt, with good amount of spotters and loaders taking part. Hats off to the organisers.

Carrots to buzz, spug myers, jonathan and NattyBB (veganfitness folk) - solid s**t all around guys, very impressive.

Events:

100kg Viking press for reps - went better than i expected. 10 reps and i think something like 5th place.

Car deadlift went really well as well, 19 reps. But then again most guys did even better, so didnt place that high on that one. But never mind that, was happy about my performance on it.

Conans wheel was a disaster, havent tried it before and i guess i placed it funny because despite trying i could not breathe and things turned black and i had to dump it. May i point out that Brother Buzz nailed me on this comp and i was quite f**king exited about it, one event this time mate, next time it could be more Grin Take no prisoners! Third last place.

Medley went a bit s**t as well, cross was ok, farmers ok, chain was a bas***d. So heavy. Very cool though, mission is to get strong and move that badboy in the future with ease Grin Placed very low here, dont know exactly.

Stones, last event, nothing to lose, had a bad placing at this stage. Went all out and strategy was to have a fast first four stones - probably best stone run i have done so far. The 135 was too heavy today, though i gave it a good f**king go with nose bleeds and all, which i can be proud of. Must have placed ok, maybe even first on all of those who didnt nail all of the stones?

Anyway, the stones lifted me to 10th place out of 19.

Overall, s**t performance, too inconsistant. But i know where the weaknesses are, and i just have to put my head down and work on them.

Plan is to get static strength up. Also fitness needs to be worked. Just not strong and powerful enough at this stage to be hitting comps like this willy nilly.

I'll be back.

nah man, its solid, few weeks back i was eating at a chinese all you can eat (and a bit more) and enjoying nice deep fried tofu and there was a f**king piece of chicken there which i accidently took a bite off. It was disgusting man, tasted like a piece of old s**t, texture was all wrong and stuff. Just goes to show how much difference it makes what you are used to eat Grin
