Cheers Neil. My training is not that exciting at the minute but I'm hopeful it's going to pay dividends.
AvatarSamthepigman
we all get that "cba" feeling at times. i had 2 months off from the gym not so long ago. it does no harm :-) only good, stops it being a chore
AvatarWILLSAN
I know what you mean but its not so much the training as the competing side of it. I'll never stop training. I think it's partly the not knowing where I stand with my shoulder. It feels fine now since I knocked heavy oh on the head so I can't see them doing anything to sort it. So I don't know where that leaves me.

Soem solid trainign in here Will, not been in for a while, why all the front squats?
AvatarWILLSAN
just an experiment in increased frequency. im front squatting 4x a week.

its probably the competing, your almost always under pressure to progress in your training, then you worry you havent progressed enough, then you start going backwards, then your worry some more, then you hurt yourself then get pissed off, then try to make up for lack of training because of the injury, mean while you havent just "sat back for 5 mins and enjoyed "training".

maybe

this is how i feel sometimes

Training today:

Squat:

60kg x 6
100kg x 3
120kg x 1
140kg x 1
160kg x 1
wraps on:
171kg x 1

Front squat/Wide grip chins (superset):

Front squat:

60kg x 3
80kg x 3
100kg x 1
115kg x 3

Wide grip chins:

BW 4 x 5
BW+7kg x 8

pretty decent. squats felt good until the 160 warmup which was probably the hardest squat ive done in about 2 years lol. nearly didnt make it back up! must have lost my line or something because the 171 after was as normal.

fronts were pretty good. was really concentrating on speed, trying to get the triple done in as quick a time as possible.

Training today:

Axle clean + press:

50kg x 3
60kg x 3
70kg x 3
80kg x 1
85kg x 7 in 60secs

Farmers/Yoke medley:

70kg/160kg for 20m/20m
100kg/240kg for 20m/20m
110kg/280kg for 20m/20m in 42secs

Overhead shot throw:

26 throws
furthest 3 - 13.4m, 13.4m, 13.5m

low back was mega sore coming into this from the ballsed up 160 squat I did on thursday so I wasnt sure how itd go. turned out ok. axle felt better than last week cardio wise. did my 7 with about 10secs to spare.

realised the qualifier is farmers into yoke instead of vice versa so did it that way round. thought itd be way easier but got a shock. farmers were piss but yoke after was really tough. legs felt like jelly! had to drop once which wasnt the best.

shot was pretty decent. loads of throws around my pb and one equalling it but just couldnt beat it. think im getting the hang of it now.

Training today:

Snatch:

40kg x fail
40kg x 3
50kg x 1
60kg x 1
70kg x fail
70kg x 1
80kg x 1
90kg x 1
95kg x fail

Snatch/BTN press:

40kg 3x 1/6
50kg x 4
60kg x 4 - ouch, bad idea.

probably a bit foolhardy but im bored out of my skull doing strict press AND I JUST WANTED TO SNATCH. Grin

the actual snatch was ok. didnt feel anything untoward in my shoulder until a slight pull when I readjusted my balance on the 90. couldnt pull the 95 high enough which was probably for the best anyway. havent snatched at all since december so im happy to snatch 90 from nothing.

btn presses were a terrible idea borne out of not having a plan. they did hurt my shoulder.

the 90 looked a little uncofortable. hopoe the shoulder is ok loon
Avatarbryce
Will, in case its any help google 'eric cressey shoulder savers'. Some useful exercises and things to help in the articles. My shoulders were quite messed up (Im missed some cartilidge in one) until I used some of the exercises consistently
AvatarWILLSAN
neil - the 90 looks alot more uncomfortable than it actually was. the movement at the bottom was a balance issue rather than anything shoulder related. it did pull slightly out of position but only fleetingly.

bryce - thanks mate but before today my shoulder has actually been feeling perfectly fine. bish gave me some shoulder rehab moves and ive been sticking to strict press or very light jerks and it has gone back to normal. I am still waiting for a referral so given that I am not expecting them to do anything about it. which kind of leaves me in no-mans land.
