I wonder why Olympic Sports don`t follow the same rule ..

Every Olympic Sport has an on the day weigh-in .

I guess if you introduced a day before weigh-in everyone would just go down a division.

I think they should do weighins before, during and after the compeition to make sure no one has gone over the 105kg limit

It amazes me how many people are on the limit. Where are all the people who weigh 104, 103, 102, 101, 100, 99,...?

Eating their way up to 110 in order to cut to 105, or cutting for the 90s Happy

why does that amaze you? being any less than 105 is a disadvantage, why would you want to give away a few kgs?

Olympics - same day weigh in.
Powerlifting - same day weigh in.

Both mainly anaerobic.

MMA - day before weigh in
Boxing - day before weigh in.

Both mainly aerobic.

Strongman, in my opinion should be same day weigh in, it's not a mainly aerobic sport, the longest you'll work for is normally 75s then you'll have a good rest. If you struggle to make the weight maybe you shouldn't be in that weight category.
The argument that the worlds do it so should we is quite weak, again my opinion, for a start the worlds are hit and miss wether they go ahead or not and what difference does it make the strongest 105 will win Britains/UK's and he'd have plenty of chance to bulk up in prep for a day before weigh in.
The Welsh and Scottish are same day, it's only the English that have changed the system and this obviously suits some people more than others. then when the Welsh and Scottish travel to Britains/UK's they've got to go a day earlier for the day before weigh otherwise they're at a dis-advantage from the start.

so a 91kg guy should compete against a 105kg guy
and a 106kg guy should compete against a 180kg guy ??

sounds fair.

Marsbar, you come out with some s**t, but this is ridiculous

I agree that people like Robbo & Hixx who require day before weigh in are absolute c**ts. BAN their arses I say!

It is bo***cks but there's nothing that will be done about it

Any comments that it is safer are pretty laughable when we look at other sports weigh ins as appose to the game of strongman

The day before weigh in allows bigger lifts on the day by bigger guys which in turn helps put on a better show, and that's what it's all about...

Even if the weigh ons were on the day like the I set 90kg lads then people would still cut weight to compete against the lighter guys... That is done in most sports so is understandable

I'd happily compete against a 180kg guy. As long as the events are vaguely doable for me I don't care who's in the comp!

For what it's worth, my opinion is that a weight category event should have lifters who have made weight on 'that' day competing in it. As a heavier competitor, I have put on a fair bit of weight from a Saturday morning to a Sunday lunchtime by drastically increasing calorie and liquid intake.

With regard to Open category lifting... if a 20st lifter is up against a 30st lifter the strongest, fittest, fastest, most efficient of the two will win - simple as that. Again, just my opinion, but a 99kg lifter head to head with a 104kg lifter doesn't suggest an unfair advantage at all to me. I would be more interested in height, reach, speed and fitness over a not massively significant 5kg bodyweight. I refer back to a 20st man against a 30st stone man here just to reinforce how 5kg is neither here or there.
