Nice session tonight Mr Mills, very explosive on the Olympics most impressive, bit more work on receiving your power jerks and 130+ beckons. Good positions on the front squats too mate, as i mentioned work on that bounce at the bottom and watch the poundages go up!!! Good to see you!!!

Thanks for that Jeff. I'll keep working on those things and listening to the people in the know. I'm quite new to the movements and don't plan on jacking them in any time soon so will have a really good run at them and see where I can get to.

15 inch deadlifts
70kg x 3, 115kg x 3, 160kg x 4, 205kg x 1, 235kg x x, 205kg x 3, 225kg x x

1 arm DB press
32.5kg x 3R/3L, 50kg x 8R/4L PB

Standing strict press
70kg x 5, 90kg x 3

Enjoyed the snatching. Got some good pointers and everything was comfy enough. Got a warm glow inside when Alan told me I'd make a good snatcher Grin

15 inch deadlifts are, as Alan put it a "bas***d" height for me to pull from. Hey ho, just got to get on with it.

Happy with the pressing. The strict pressing was a surprise as:
  • I equalled my 3 rep PB
  • I haven't strict pressed in months
  • My pressing e.g. close grip bench has been terrible recently, well down


So hoping for good things with the strict press after the comp when I'm going to put some work in on it. Also, maybe triceps aren't that important afterall for a military press?

The bull worked hard on the snatching and lifted big on the deads, Andy and Pete had a bench off which was good fun to watch and Paul had a good one too.

Overall, solid!

yeah man, we were showered with solid advice from little a and Alan throughout the snatching part of the session, if we soak all the advice we actually will make a nice proper snatch sooner or later Grin

Strong pressing!

And weaknesses are there to be worked on. 260kg off the floor by next summer mate.

Excellent pressing Millsy. I expect you to place near the top on both overhead events on the day.

With the deadlift, will you get any more out of your suit? Brian will be lurking around the 220kg mark - you need to watch out for him!

Joni - Deadlift will be one of my main focuses after the comp. No numbers being thrown about, just a big pull on its way.

Jonathan - I think my deadlift suit is more of a hindrance than an aid. I tried it last week and didn't like it at all, I don't know, maybe it's just too tight to deadlift in since I last had the straps tightened? Don't really know what to expect from the axle, but will be very happy if I can get 12 reps on the dumbell! Who knows, we'll have to see on the day. Should be a great comp with lots of guys fighting for top spots, can't wait!

Stag do in Latvia in the weekend. Total carnage, drank far too much and didn't really eat enough, are calories from alcohol any good at putting on weight?Wink Also managed to mess up my shoulder on a simulated skydive over a giant fan thingy.

Mon 29/10

Band dislocates
10 x 6

Power clean and power jerk
60kg x 3,3, 70kg x 3, 80kg x 1,1,1,1,1

Shoulder quite sore/stiff, these felt heavy Embarassed

Close grip bench press
60kg x 5, 80kg x 5, 100kg x 3,3,3 These felt OK, as they should do!

Band dislocates
10 x 5

Really need to get rested/fed up for the weekend now, will do some stuff tomorrow with Pete and then rest and eat till Saturday.

LOL! Started to feel human again today, shoulder is on the mend should be good to go for the comp!

Tues 30/10

Front squats
60kg x 5,5, 80kg x 5, 100kg x 3,3,3,

Chins
BW x 10, +10kg x 8, +20kg x 8,8,8

Incline rear delt flies supersetted with incline DB curls
15kg x 10,10,10,10 for both.

Throughout the session (as Pete was here so it took a bit longer than usual as he was running through some of the events for Sat) I also did:

Band dislocates
10 x 15

4 days rest 'til comp. Feeling weak ATM but will be up for it on Saturday. Come on!
