Tonite @ T/Hall

Front squat, warm up with bar x6 & 60 x4. Then doubles @ 100, 110 & singles from now on! 120, 130, 140 kg Pb & 100 x4. Really pleased with front squat Pb, was a comfy rep & controlled all the way. Glad after being pinned last time I tried it, but no more there tonite.

Trap bar deadlift & hold 115 x2, 165 x2

Hypers Bw x10 x2, Bw +10kg x8 x2.

Some leg pressing & done.

Prob the best run of training Ive had for a long time & more Pbs in the last month than prob in the last year. Hope the progress keeps coming cause it does make the gym a great place to be Grin

Good training Kevman, nice sneaky Frontie PB there! Log at Dumfries felt ok, reckon you'll bag it on the day no probs. Big field and with the Grip Banker in there for you, will pick up plenty tasty points on it!

Not expecting to get the log but who knows, not far away at the moment! Frontie Pb should help with the stones cause Im wantin that 140 lol

Hope for decent points in the farmers too cause ill have a whole load of catching up to do after that overhead

Comp run through for Dumfries novie @ IS with Jnr & Lewis

Overhead medley, warmed up to 70kg on axle then attempted 80kg log, 2/3 attempts & no go! Think its about 5kg too heavy at the moment & at the top im thinking about push press or split jerk but end up doing neither. Need to find a tech on the day & stick with it. 80kg log is a maybe & will be a Pb.

Axle 90kg, closest ever just like the log & at least my head knows its split jerk all the way. Again prob about 5kg too heavy. Again if it goes on the day its an overhead Pb. Only time will tell.

Farmers medley, 80kg 30m (turn @ 30m), 90kg 15m & 100kg 15m. Timed at 105secs & 15 sec too long. Defo lost about 10sec on turning with the 80kg & f**ked about too long with the 100kg pick up. Will finish this in under 90sec NO MATTER WHAT...

Fingals finger, reps for 90sec! Got 4 & best Ive ever felt doing this but only the second time ever. Would be happy getting 4 in the comp but maybe another if I can move my arse a bit faster lol. Happy with this tho Grin

Hold for time! No deadlift frame to use so 120kg farmers with high pick up, got 36sec but looking for more like 45sec. Normally better than this so side handles should suit & 45sec is still the goal........

Medley, 320kg tyre x3 flips, 140 prowler 15m & 90kg shield carry 15m. Managed 87 seconds not bad but comp has lighter tyre so maybe get close to the 60sec mark

Stones, 90kg, 110kg 10min rest & attempt the 130 again! Lapped & got about 25% of the way up before my strength gave out, better than last week so happy with effort. Maybe the 120kg will be my max in the comp so will have to find some speed lol.


Overall a tough day & happy with effort, wont no lift on anything on the day so thats a first & hoping for some Pbs. Looking forward to sunday & a place im happy with.

Today @ T/Hall

Not much of a training session but more of a piss about with weights! Needed to free my back off cause keep cramping up.

Rear delts warm up for 3 sets

Smith machine incline bench for 4 sets with 70kg max

CG bench 3 sets with 60kg

Pec deck 3 sets with 70kg

Hypers BW x10 x3

Then some movie inspired pissing about! I am legend chins (behind the neck) Rocky dumbell uppercuts. Finished of with some Poundstone treadmill walks & done.

Nothing heavy & just trying to ease tight muscles & now resting, eating & being boring till sunday when ill leave it all on the battle field in Dumfries lol......

Dumfries Novice! Some top performances & top 3 who deserved there place. Comp went down to the stones for the title & only 1 second in it. Me?

Fingals finger, 8reps. Happy with this as best Ive done is 4 but think on a heavier finger. Winner got 11.

Deadlift hold, 52sec. Reasonably happy but really needed to hang on for the min as 50ish was packed with a number of guys. Hands burst open so at least I know that was all.

Overhead medley, What can I say! Swiss bar @ 75kg easy. Then log, closest ever but still no rep on this & ended up smashing it into my chin on the last attempt. Really needed to at least get the log as a load of guys failed the axle. Last place & totally pissed off. Angry

Farmers, 80kg 30m, 90kg 15m & 100kg 15m. Was first up after overhead & just wanted to finish the course. All 3 sets felt comfy & finished with no drops in 46 sec. Pleased with this as prob mid table in this by the end & the winner got 30sec.

250 tyre 3 flips, 110 prowler 15m & 135 cross 15m. Not sure about this one but tyre was easy enough, if not fast. Prowler slowed to a crawl a few m out but didnt stop cause prob wouldnt move it again. Cross had to reset & try a second time as it felt heavy on pick up. Managed to finish the course again with no drops & within time. (not sure what the time was)

Stones. 4th up in the stones & not feeling great but last event & had to give it everything. 3 guys before me managed 3 stones so was a bit worried going into this! 1st stone @ 90kg felt really heavy but managed to go 90kg 100kg 110kg & 120kg. 140kg stone felt like about 200kg by the time I got there & wouldnt move.

Overall really happy with effort on 5 out of 6 events as I dont think I could of done anymore. The 6th event, overhead pissed me off to the MAX! Really shouldnt be failing an 80kg log, no excuses as its simply not good enough. No doubt it cost me a mid table finish but thats life. Log press, Log press & Log press is the plan for this winter & I will be around 100kg overhead by the spring..............

Erm 4 times lol. Event training wasn't the problem & went well, just overhead gym work which is getting better but not good or fast enough. Will get a plan & stick to it.

Yes it was good to get back at it tho

Good to meet you and compete against you yesterday.

Some good performances from you Kev, especially on the grip hold and farmers. A strong winter in the gym and you'll be doing some damage in the under 90s Scottish next year.

Good to meet u too man! U were steady all day & good overhead. Hopefully get the chance to compete against u again next year. Will need to loose some weight for u90 cause im about 95kg the now

Bit of training to ease myself back into things!

Deadlift upto 180kg single, attempted 200kg but moved about an inch off the floor & my back said NO lol

Back squat nothing too heavy cause been a long time since I squatted so went to a 140kg single, went for 160kg but no chance today! Normally get knee pain but felt good today, got some new single ply knee sleeves from Buzz & they are the tits. Hope for some good squatting in the future.

Bit of bench, ticeps & some hypers

DONE.............

No plan tonite, just wanted to get back into things as back still a mess.
Going to put a plan together for the winter & some goals for year end & see what happens. Next comp I want to be able to compete in ALL events so some hard work ahead.

Time to set some goals & decide how im getting there!

Bench 120kg
Squat 180kg (happy to get back to where I was)
Deadlift 210kg (time to get it moving)

Plan is to hit it hard this winter & get to where I want to be for spring, gives me 4/5 mth to improve.

Overhead is priority so strict press & bench will be the main focus for this.
Squat will come back once I start doing it regular again
Deadlift need to do SLDL & deficits

May start a routine such as Coan etc but not for a few weeks.

Time will tell

May i be so forward as to give you some advice.

Well I'm going to anyway

Strict and bench is important but don't forget push press and hammer the body building after your main movement. We all could do with getting stacked
