I'd like to know if they've been finished, sounds like a real slow burner.

Great pics by the way, must be a fantastic place to train.

Deadlifts

Tonight I thought f**k it, I'm going for 300. Whilst I have managed 315 before it was strapped and hitched, not to PL standards.

I don't recall exact sets but worked in mostly singles, hitting 220, 240, 260, 280 before 300.

Pissed off as I really should have chalked/talc'd my thighs, was all clammy by the 300 and the bar dug in to my legs and gripped like buggery.

Left hand grip went at the point of lockout so it was a no lift however I am still pleased that it went up. Had it not have stuck it would have gone a lot quicker.

Coach and Daz both think once my comp in July is done that I need to work on altering my technique in order to exploit my speed from the floor without sacrificing it at the top as it has become a literal sticking point.

It's a good fail. Yeah it's frustrating, but at the same Tim you know you can get it, no problem.

The only bad fails, are the weights that barley budge.

Good attempt.

Non training related update.

No training today but I did spend 5 hours dismantling the decking from the back of my house with a wrecking bar, cut it all up and took it to the tip, literally filled my van floor to ceiling. Then pressure washed the patio hidden underneath and surrounding area.

Skirting board status: not complete but so very close. I anticipate having carpet sometime next week, I cannot f**king wait.

Eating chicken quarter pounders, pizza, cidre, peroni. Work in morning cock juggling thunderc**t

Squats

Mixed emotions tonight, had a f**king long hard 12 hour shift at work, really wasn't in the mood to squat but forced myself to anyway. i trained at my Dads, alone, very little in the way of music or atmosphere, very little caffeine as I'm back up at 5 again for work.

I had it in my head that I would do some heavy singles which I did, and I PB'd by 5kg however it felt and looked harder than it should, form was absolute pants and there was this weird f**king hip wriggle thing at the bottom that looked f**king horrendous. So PB but not really a good PB.

Basically did singles up to 265kg and that was it, to say I apparently hit a new weight I feel pretty 'meh' about it

Don't sweat it Carl you sank it well and stood up with it...everyones a winner!

Get your stamina ,confidence and core nailing weights between 220 -250 for a while and next time you un rack that weight it'll come up a piece of piss Grin

Thanks mate,

That's pretty much my plan, typically my workouts would top out at 220/230 for singles but having realised I haven't been trying hard enough my intentions are to work 220-240 for triples 250 for doubles etc, working on 3-5 sets to get the volume in. Happy

Ugly PB's can leave you feeling a little disappointed. A bit like how you go for a Chinese all you can eat, eat a small village and then still feel like you're not satisfied.

The point here is that you did the lift, and next time you get to that number the confidence is there and you will feel and perform better.

Good lift mate. Hope that little jiggle at the bottom hasn't caused any issues.

I first hit 300 over a year ago, strapped and hitched and after 6 months of training for powerlifting I finally nailed it strapless and hitchless. I am pleased.

Bench

Did some comp reps tonight with full commands.

Something like
60x7
80x5
100x3
115x1
125x1
135x1
145x1
155x1
150x2 - these flew, bench is easily 165/170 now but given I only want a strong 160 in comp we decided to leave it at that. Atleast I know I'm good for it with decent long pauses.

As stated in wdc thread, Benni was lifting tonight, made 440 look very comfortable.

Well today sucked.

Went to squat, warmed up fine, little tight but no more than usual.

First set for a triple at 220. First one flew. Somewhere in the bottom of the second there was a loud audible pop and an immediate feeling of discomfort in the area at the base of my throat where clavicles meet.

Very top of my chest and throat starting to stiffen right up, something has given, just hope it's not serious Unhappy
