It was delicious, but I think some ketchup or some kind of sweet condiment would have taken it to the next level... Thinking about this while squeezing my tip, Heavily seasoned chicken breast then covered in some kind of pizza base sauce topping, then the cheese and pepperoni on top would have been better. I may try again tonight like this. How is the war on carbs treating you?

It's effective and I don't have to count calories which is great I just eat whatever 'no carb' foods I want (within reason) and the weight continues to drop. It doesn't have to be boring and plain either as you'll have seen a glimpse of from my IG. A favourite of mine this last week has been smashing a full rotisserie chicken for my lunch whilst at work. Coatings such as salt & pepper and hot & spicy are OK but BBQ is a no go unfortunately. One downside is at least 2 days a week is spent with some kind of gastrointestinal distress. Combine rich fats with artificial sweeteners and it's an explosive combination! Going to refeed on Thursday for a 9 day streak then backload on Friday as me and the boys are having a deadlift party with post workout gullet pounders. Canne wait, feel so depleted right now.

As I was reading about your experience of no carbs I was thinking of low carbs first and then you said it yourself. I reckon I'll give this a go. I have protein powder now so can absolutely add extra calories by way of those if I need to. Also just got a massive batch from muscle food which will help. Thanks again for the advice. I'm gonna gove this a go. Meat and low carb vegetable. A combination of your plan and Jacks.

Despite the not counting calories, do you have a rough idea of daily intake, or do you simply go by feel and hunger levels? Do you employ many supplements at all? From my reading of the CBL book, articles, forums and other keto info, protein powders are best only used post workout due to the insulinogenic nature of whey.

I honestly don't have a clue about calories, no two days are the same really. If I was to hazard a guess I'd say around 3000 - 3500. I'm definitely nowhere near as hungry during keto. On a few occasions recently I've got up at 5am, gone to work and barring coffee haven't ingested anything until around 11am and it hasn't bothered my energy levels/mood/appetite whatsoever. Owing to more stable blood sugar levels perhaps? As for supplements, I think the 'kiefer method' is totally unnecessary. I only use whey post workout anyway. The supplements he recommends for the 'protocol' are just a waste of money IMO. Whether they have more of an impact on someone a lot leaner I could not say. For me it's more important to try and enjoy keto, experiment with food combinations and dream up new ideas - not stick to a regimented system of foul smelling aminos and a boat load of tablets X times a day.

Amen. I remember reading the CBL book a good few years ago and seeing all the pre, intra and post supps and thinking that is madness. Funnily enough he came out a few years latr and said not to bother with any of those and really changed his tune. I only ever have whey post workout really, the rest is solid food.

![]() I recommend the track - Slut Machine Member 6043, 957 posts SQ 350, BP 195, DL 350895.0 kgs @ 150kgs UnEq | Tried a trap bar tonight, fortunately my gym has invested in one with long enough pins to fit some decent weight on. On the downside the height is such that it is stuck right in my dead spot so starting strength is very poor. 275kg went up OK but when I bumped it up to 325kg it got about 6 inches off the floor and stalled. It may mean however that it will be a useful aid in training that weak spot and may have a carry over to conventional deads. After that I did some squats with chains and after a few singles attempted 240kg + 40kg in chains which worked out at about 270kg at the top (bearing in mind some of the chain was on the floor). I don't know what possessed me to attempt it but I did and got stuck coming out of the hole, luckily my spotter gave me a bit of a push under the elbows to get it back up, closest I think I have ever come to well and truly binning it. Still quite pleased strength wise as last time I hit 270 was in a monolift, 16kg heavier and carb loaded to the hilt. Was I not on day 9 of zero carbs there's a good chance I'd have got it. Just wish the strength retention was the same for my poverty bench!!

Bench up to 160kg, surprised I was capable of the weight in this state so very happy with that. Some slingshot work and then a load of tricep bb stuff. Weighed in at 130.5 this morning and now I'm going to smash a f**k tonne of carbs and 10g of creatine to blow back up for tomorrows deadlift session with the lads at absolute.

Sore, tight, dehydrated and lacking enthusiasm. Hate days like today. On the plus side, looking forwards to getting down into the 120-somethings which should happen for sure this next week. Whilst I still have a long way to go it's starting to become apparent that every kilo lost has an ever increasing impact on aesthetics which is most enjoyable.

Think I gone messed up with this one. I decided on my last refeed to reintroduce creatine as I find it improves my repping ability. Unfortunately I did not realise just how much water it retains and am thinking now it's not a good idea whilst I am 'cutting' Thursday I weigh 130.5 - I refeed after a heavy training session. I am something like 9 days carb free up to this point so I consume around 650g of carbohydrates in the evening. I also take 10g of creatine mono. Friday I weigh 130.5 again, in hindsight having eaten in the evening and not drank a f**k tonne, there is simply no water to retain other than what was present in the food. So food weight only, no water retention. I eat a 'normal' meal later in the day containing carbs with the intention of jumping back into keto the following day. I take 5g of creatine this time Saturday I weigh 132.4. Well I expected some water retention from the carbs and I know it'll soon disappear. My muscles feel nice and full, I still feel lean (relative) and so I snap a 'jacked' progress selfie and post it on 'narcissistagram'. No carbs at all today, heading back keto. 5g of creatine also. Sunday Expect weight to be going back down so WTF? I weigh 133.2 now? oh well maybe some delayed water retention. I did afterall have carbs for 2 days and not just one. I realise by mid day I appear to have hit a sweet spot. Everything feels pumped and looks better than ever, awesome, perhaps I can deal with the few extra kg if it means I look good whilst dropping fat, it'll keep me motivated. 5g of creatine also Monday Right so surely water retention has plateaued and now I'll be dropping weight again? Nope.. 134. WTF is going on? Water retention has now spilled over and is not just within skeletal muscle but also subcutaneous now. I feel and look fluffy in areas I was starting to gain definition. f**k sake. Now I know creatine can only make me retain water and that by been in keto and a deficit I will still lose fat regardless of what the scales say but today it has proven bad psychologically. One of the things I love the most about keto is how you can literally see the results unfolding day after day and creatine based water retention for a potential extra rep or two just doesn't see worth it. So I have terminated the creatine and will continue to monitor how my weight now surely drops as the levels normalise. Cool story. FIN.
