Because he lied from the start and now has to keep it up ? He's a God botherer and I would trust him as far as I could throw him, and I can throw him - 714 yards apparently he no longer bothers god ,about a year ago he changed his mind and decided god does'nt exist. Just thought I'd let you know in case this effects the ammount you would trust him or the distance you could throw him!

Just thought I'd let you know in case this effects the ammount you would trust him or the distance you could throw him! Thanks for the info. Distance thrown will remain unaffected, trust remains an issue as he is probably just denoucing Christ before the cock crows three times which seems quite popular with former athletes, or it's all a lie, caused by god moving in a mysterious way, which throws doubt on his honesty, which is where I came in

Last year, whilst picking up some weightlifting plates in Kilmarnock, I met Peter Kirkbride. Under 18 lifter, 75kg and with (if my memory serves) a 180 C&J and 145 snatch. As has already been stated, Jonathan Edwards is a freak of the highest degree, with as much explosive power as a box full of plastique - what reason, as a retired athlete does he have to lie? Jonathan Perfect example of how people collect information and pass it on wrongly thus blurring the truth ... Peter Kirkbride has weighed 85kg for the last few seasons not 75kg and his best lifts up to last year would have been more like 135kg 175kg , i know this to be true because i shared many squads with him ... Not far off the truth but slightly exagerated all the same .. I did see Dwain Chambers Power Clean 150kg with my own eyes and many other athletes doing similar big power cleans .. Many Sports now do power cleans and other sports have amazing athletes .. I beleive if there was a British Power clean championships Many athletes could out power Olympic Weightlifters in this country .. Why not ???

Yea Jonathan think he was in the 85kg class when you seen him and doing what Mark quoted but I was speaking to him on Monday in the gym and he was saying that he snatched 150kg and c&j 180kg 2weeks ago in training with a hangover , think he c&j 185kg ??? at the recent british juniors held in Kilmarnock but he weighs around 88kg now though but still strong lifting and only 20 years old. There's a good few young oly lifters at the gym I train at aswell as excellent coach's.

Still got a little bit of strength Member 400, 22056 posts | Slightly off topic, but can anyone remember "The Games"? It ran for 3 years and involved celebrities training for and competing against each other in various sports (diving, speed skating, sumo,...). I used to particularly enjoy watching the weightlifting. I remember Pat Sharp jerking 50Kg overhead with really good technique, but making it look like it weighed about 3 times as much! The record was 83Kg, held by some guy off Hollyoaks. No real point to this post. I'm just reminiscing!

James Hewitt (the posh guy?) did 82.5Kg and some guy called Romeo (is he from "So Solid Crew"?) did the same or marginally less. Chesney Hawkes did a massive 53Kg. Adam Rickett was sub 50Kg! I think I've brought this up to make myself feel strong again, after having to face up to female athletes and female weightlifters possibly being able to lift more than me!!!

Stephen - You are correct in you`re numbers but i was talking about last year not the present , that was sort of my point ... More people tuned in to watch superstars clean and jerk these weights than would ever tune in and watch the olympic finals - - - - sort of makes you hang your boots up and go on X Factors Dunnit

the Ergbreaker Member 19, 858 posts SQ 190, BP 140, DL 260590.0 kgs @ 128kgs UnEq | Sorry for the inaccuracy - as I said, I was just quoting the numbers from memory, which perhaps has a tendency to exagerate things! Nevertheless, I think Peter Kirkbride also qualifies in the freak of nature category!
