jimmyf said:I fully agree, Laura is a strong lady for sure but those squats were a disgrace to powerlifting tbh....or more to the point the judging is....I remember the spf gave Dave Hoff a WR squat and then it turned out the bar was mis-loaded, he said he didn't want the record but the SPF refused to acknowledge the mis-load lol

The SPF really don't want credibility!

There's qualifying totals for championships on the Bwla website, they have totals for the youth championships if that helps but for the talent squads I don't think there is any set numbers.

It says the goal of a strength training programme is to cause fatigue to a muscle. Isn't that the aim of a bodybuilding programme to produce maximum fatigue. To me a strength training programme would aim to allow you to perform alot of mechanical work whilst trying to delay the onset of fatigue whereas performing lifts with very slow tempos would maximise fatigue whilst minimising actual work done. Lifting purposefully slowly wouldn't train someone to rapidly produce force either which is surely what athletes are aiming to do, especially an mma fighter like the article seems to be aimed at. Just my opinion

Great dumbbelling, I'm sure the record will go. How did the 210 feel?

That is awesome, I thought I'd feel bad watching the fight but the video changed my mind.

I love this article, especially the "special onesie" comment although it's no surprise a s**tstorm has ensued. Is Laura Phelps the lifter that people say is a better squatter than koklyaev because she squatted 3 inches in multiply?

I think the car weighs about 180 or so in the hand..

Yeah 180 but it's side handles so it's easier than a normal deadlift it's abit like a leg press

Cool, how much do i need to be able to DL before i go rep that car? Grin

Not alot, it's pretty light I've managed 31 reps with it Grin although I wouldn't recommend sets of 31 as they're quite painful!
