Mondays or Fridays are better nights to catch me near the Brayford, Thursdays I tend to be a safe distance from the water!

I've been in before and it isn't pleasant so I'll be avoiding you at all costs!

hey mate nice to hear from you, are you competing at the next north mids in sc**thorpe? im going to come and watch.......should have pulled my finger out and entered!. im going to spend winter working on my bench, its way low compared to my squats and deads as i neglected it to concentrate on olympic stuff plus i really need to break 200k on my deadlift.

yeah its a great gym, its all decent quality equipment. more weight than we could ever need, plenty of bars etc

today was my olympic training day.
i arrived at the gym feeling crap, i suspect this may have been due to my big-mac, 2 double cheeseburger and large fries for dinner which left me feeling pretty thirsty and rubbish......but i was bloody worth it!
anyway back to training, i decided to keep things pretty light and get out of the gym quickly so..

CLEAN AND JERKS
decided to do powercleans for a change, with conventional split jerks
60k 2 x 3
70k 2 x 2
80k for 3 singles

CLEAN SHRUGS
just fancied doing these
100k 4 x 8

altogether a pretty rubbish session but i figured i was better than nothing

back at the gym after a few days off (one thing after another!) it felt great to be training after 4 days away from the gym!

SQUAT

bar x 8
60 x 8
90 x 5
110 x 3
125 x 5 sets of 3

BENCH

bar x 8
40 x 8
50 x 8
60 x 8
70 x 8
80 x 3
then a back off set
60 x 10 i just wanted to get a bit of extra volume in, just because it felt right really

BARBELL ROW

90 x 3 sets of 5

all in all a really enjoyable session. nothing spectacular but it all felt good. Happy

i usually deadlift in my weightlifting shoes, the problem is that do-win shoes have quite a high heel on them which i find great for olympic lifts and great for squatting but ive been told it can be a problem for deads. ive been stuck at 190k on the deadlift for ages so i thought i would have a go at deads in just my socks and if i find it easier i will buy some deadlift slippers.

DEADLIFTS

100k x 5
belt tightened, chalk, alternating hook grip
140k x 1
180k x 1
190k x 1
195k x 1 PB !!!!
i was very chuffed with this, especially as im still a bit achy from squatting on saturday, hopefully 200k will be on the cards in a couple of weeks. this was done with my crappy cheap belt and jogging bottoms, too cold for shorts and baby powder now!

normally i do push presses but for a change i felt like strict presses, plus my back was nailed from the deadlifts so cleaning 50k was more appealling than cleaning 75k Happy

STRICT PRESSES

50k 3 sets of 5

my back is nice and sore now but im really chuffed that ive finally got over my sticking point, the feeling i got as the bar came over my knees and i realised i was going to lock it out was amazing! the other guys in the gym (all doing curls) were less than impressed but who cares, I GOT A PB!!

top stuff pal. feels good when you get pb after being stuck on a weight for so long . socks did the trick but i would also consider investing in a proper weighting belt. gives your back so much more support and will help you feel more confident in lifting when going for maz plus prevent injury

yeah im going to get a nice solid powerlifting one as soon as possible, i think it will definatly help
