Cheers Dave, things definitely moving in the right direction. I think so mate. I need to have a go at some axle cleans without using a belt though, perhaps see what these Hitler cleans are all about.

Summary
Good session. Pressing is coming on leaps and bounds. I only just managed 67.5x5x5 last week, but this week the 70x5x5 was tough but not really a grinder. Deadlift speed was off this week, but strength was there. Ever such a slight hitch on the last rep. Form better on the CGBP, much more triceps isolation. Kettlebell swings were brutal. Posterior chain smoked. Tripleset, as per usual, destroyed delts!

That is all.

I had dropped back to 85 before Christmas, but have now gone back up to 89 and still going up! Not a good trend for an u90 Strongman....

Cheers buddy. I think the running might actually be helping, Nick. Promotes blood flow, and improved circulation and all that. I never run for more than 35mins normally.

Summary
Hmmm, a tail of two halves tonight. Pressing was good. Adjusted my grip narrower (as per DV's suggestion) and that seemed to help transfer of power better. Squats were OK. Done more reps than that at heavier weight. I reckon there was at least one more in the tank, but core was done. Shame. Missed the 200 as well. Boo. Front squats in as the comp in June has them. 3 at 120 when fatigued isn't too bad. Ideally I want at least 5 or 6. Testing the water with the Savikas presses. Started light. Will aim for 3 sets at 23kg next time. Ran the two supersets straight into each other, so was more like interval training. I put on my Garmin watch and heart rate monitor to see what was going on, because we all love data. ~18mins, max heart rate 182, during exercises to failure, recovery to ~150bpm during rests. Worked well.

That is all.

Just looking back at the vid of the failed squat and I'd actually loaded with 210!

That looked a damned good session, had it all, pressing, squats of more than one variety, rows etc. pbs and misloaded fails Tongue Grin

That being said it wasn't a catastrophic fail, didn't look that far away Happy (difficult to tell I realise, but a complete fail is obvious)
Also sometimes misloads work wonders when you do get it, if you knew you had 210 on it you may have been psyched out from start.

So true, I wouldn't have even tried 210 if I'd known it was loaded. Wasn't a massive fail. To be fair, I think I'd failed the lift before even getting under the bar. I've only ever failed one other squat and that was at 180. That WAS catastrophic. I basically collapsed under the bar LOL!

Nice work, especially the thick handle DB Z-press Grin. It's a little tricky initially but after few weeks you should notice a nice little pop when you start pressing (with a bar). Also do you find they pump the hell out of your shoulder?
