What does everyone do on their days off from training? Do you use active recovery techniques (cardio, foam rolling, light weights) or do you use passive recovery (sitting on your ass and eating).

Also what is the best thing you use to relieve DOMS?

Co-Codamol!

Sometimes do a spot of walking the day after squats/deads but the planets havent seemed to align sufficiently for it recently.

Best cure for doms is to repeat what gave you the doms within 48 hours can't remember the last time I had doms but I got them when I started because I trained bench dead and squat once per week

I sit on an exercise bike for 15 minutes the day after a session.

Swim. Be it after a workout or in it's own right. Best is 100 lengths (25m pool) in an hour!

The terms are meant to be used when recovering from repeated bouts of exercise in a session.

That aside I get stretching, rolling and general mobility to recovery from a session and prepare for the next one. Here the focus is on recovery of movment pattersn not muscle tissue itself. There may be overlap though.

If I am really sore after training I do light stuff on the affected area of the body then stretch, use foam roller and use a thumper.

I tend to favour sitting down, drinking smoking, wanking, playing Xbox and putting off doing the washing up. Although I'm as weak as a newly born kitten with a muscle wasting disease, so I wouldn't adopt this approach unless I was me, which of course I am, so I do.

Yep, same here.

Soreness doesn't always mean you can't go again and perhaps even set a PR.

To go against my first post I have noticed my recovery is better since I purchased an xbox and signed up to love film I find it easier to sit down in one place for more than 30mins I'm abit hyperactive with a short attention span

a good proper warm up like this before every session and a decent cool down plus foam rolling every session means im very rarely sore

I cycle about 8 miles every day I am at work which is always days I don't train. I very rarely get sore and enjoy it when I do as I know I worked hard the day before. I rarely foam roll but do stretch quite a bit generally out of boredom at work
