Weighted pull ups are good fun, I always enjoy doing them. For a long time I just hooked a dumbell in my feet and did them that way, but I definately feel they are a lot better with a good belt. I bought one of the Iron Mind ones off of Buzz recently, not cheap but well worth the money!

I think I may have to look into buying one soon.

Thanks Mike.

Might be making a return to the platform in December, if not then most likely March.

Did some deadlifting today, hit an easy 5 rep set and then worked up to what would be my opener if I decide to do the competition in December.

Deadlift
1 x 5 70 kgs
1 x 5 120 kgs
1 x 5 150 kgs
1 x 5 172.5 kgs
1 x 5 195 kgs
1 x 1 220 kgs
1 x 1 240 kgs
3 x 3 140 kgs

Good Mornings 3 x 10
Decline Crunches 3 x 10

Today was a useful gauge of things as my legs were still sore from the high reps on Tues, but the 240 was still easy. If I can do it easily on a day like this it should make for a very easy opener at the next competition.

Also a good session for the other guys as well, Martin hit a pb deadlift, Bryan seems to be getting to grips with pulling sumo and big Simon pulled 300.

That looks like a good session on the deadlifts are they all just done with chalk?

What competition is this then steel?

Belt on from 195 and then off for the 140's.

Alex who runs the Palace of Arts club, where I train twice a week, and another guy who trains there are putting on a BDFPA comp in December so I figured I might give it a pop. I've not made my mind up for sure as yet though.

Benched today, still keeping a few reps in the tank on top sets, I was going to failure in the weeks leading up to restarting this journal but I wasn't finding it very productive. It will be interesting to see if this approach is more effective in the coming weeks.

Bench Press
1 x 10 20 kgs
1 x 8 60 kgs
1 x 5 80 kgs
1 x 3 95 kgs
1 x 3 110 kgs
1 x 7 122.5 kgs

Paused Bench Press 5 x 5
Kroc Rows 1 x 10, 1 x 10, 1 x 50 (each side)

Overall a good session, though I need a new plan on the rows, the heaviest dumbell at each of the gyms I train at is 50 kgs unfortunately and I'm not sure there is much point in me continuing to add 5 reps to the top set each week with that kind of weight. Ideally the gyms would get heavier dumbells, but that most likely won't be hapening anytime soon so what I think I will do is add in another rowing movement before them and also start doing sets across at the top weight on the dumbell rows. Maybe 3 sets of pendlay rows then move on to the dumbell rows and do 3 x 20 with the 50's and add reps each week again.

Other suggestions are most welcome!

Heavy Barbell Rows are your best friend or one handed t-bat rows are nice.

Yeah that was my thinking with adding in the Pendlay rows, basically a barbell row but performed in a very strict fashion. Might give the t-bar rows a pop too, cheers.
