The way I train is resulting in progress. "If it ain't broke don't fix it."
I've never told Adam to "shove it". He's an amazing lifter and I have massive respect for him. I just disagreed that isolating individual muscles is necessary. Maybe I'll discover later in my strongman journey that I'm wrong and bicep curls are the way forward!

I don't think anyone has suggested you're training is 'broke', but to more experienced athletes there are some visible gaps and obvious ways in which you could make even better progress.

You've had some good advice from Adam Keep too, but all but told him to shove it.

Just because someone is 'World Class', does not neccessarily mean what works for them will for you, or, that they are giving great advice

I couldn't agree more, but we are only talking basic tips here and if someone is unwilling to even try, they'll never know, will they?

Maybe we should be having this discussion in my journal rather than yours. I'm going to the gym shortly and will post my session up when I get back. I invite people to pick holes it.

I don't know why you're so paranoid / got such a chip on your shoulder Wayne. No one's picked any holes in your training at all.

The advice from me has basically been try a belt and wear some more appropriate clothing. Take it and lift a bit more, or leave it and don't.

Before a competition, squat and bench press, of course. Deadlift rarely, perhaps one or two sessions before, but no more.

Still keep raw close grip bench in there, but usually drop raw squatting. I'm absolutely ripped at the moment too, so workouts are heavy, but short. Don't want to expend too much additional energy with assistance work this close.

What makes you ask mate?

You could do one back squat session in the briefs and one raw each week, whilst you're learning how to use them. As you become more advanced, you may end-up doing all your sessions in them. Ultimately, it's likely that you'll have periods of equipped and unequipped training over the course of a year.

You train at Lee Marshall's gym don't you? He'd be a good person to ask for guidance.

Col_Austin said:Some additional thoughts on my workout last night:

Put the shirt on differently this time, with my hands fully supinated as the sleeves were being pushed/pulled into place.

When on, and I could pronate my hands, the sleeves twisted inwards, forcing the chest plate down. This prevented the shirt from riding up as it did on Monday and meant I didn't have to pull the collar down anywhere near as much in order to achieve a more dramatic effect.

Never worn my shirt like this before, but I think it is the way forward. Thank you to the guys who helped me with all of this last night.

I just read this. I think that's one of the cleverest ideas I've ever come across, I'll be sure to try that next time I get into my shirt! Thanks for sharing that.
