Monday 20th.

Last day in my old job today, I start my new job tomorrow so training and updates will be even more sporadic than usual.


Squat.

Feeling a little more beat up than I was expecting so left it there.

I'm also going to have a couple of weeks off benching to see if the wrist improves any.

Nice round 500 total, not bad considering the lack of proper training and the poorly wrist. Once my new job settles and I can get back into a training program i'll be looking for 550'ish in Belfast (200/120/230).

Quiet at the Farm, just Kevin, Tom1, Tom2, PTSMark and myself in attendance.
Weighed in at 118.90kg.

Just a quick deadlift session, palms were sweaty and I was losing grip on the bar.

I'm not dead (yet), just travelling a lot for work, I have visited the Farm a couple of times in the last month though but nothing serious to report.

Wrist is still very painful all of the time!

Hoping to get a couple of sessions in though before I nip over to Belfast for the British Masters.

Back in the UK for a couple of days, so called into the Farm for my first session in ages!

Monday 1st October.
Weighed in at 119.10kg.
Lots of lifters at the Farm tonight.

Squat.

Bending the knees was the biggest problem! They eased as the session progressed.

Bench.
All Close Grip, wrist still painful.

Wednesday 10th October.

First session a while, still debating whether or not to lift at the British Masters, I'm entered and down to referee as well.
Weighed in at 118.40kg.
Tonight was about seeing how far i'd sunk.

1 x 170 Failed, actually I unracked it, then decided "no way" so put it back.

Bench. All Close Grip.

Deadlift.

Probably the most embarrassing session i've ever had at the Farm!

Not training much at the moment Bill, plus i've still got this annoying wrist injury! That said I am flying out to Belfast on Saturday morning to lift in the Masters!

I'm only looking for nominal lifts though, probably 160/170 on squat, 100/110 on bench and 190/200 on deadlift for a miserable 480 total! hard to believe it was just 7 months ago I was totaling 552.5 at the Europeans.

If the wrist injury ever gets better I might just give competing one more year, if not i'll probably just stick to regional masters!

Quick catch up!

Not been training much over the past couple of months and the wrist is still very painful but i'd already paid my entry and the flights were booked so I went to Belfast anyhow.

British Masters Classic.
Saturday 20th.
Up at 5, caught the train to Birmingham and a plane to Belfast, straight to venue and there by 10. refereed a few sessions and sat on the jury for the rest. Left the venue at 21:30 and found hotel, in bed by 23:00.

Sunday 21st.
Up early and got to venue before lifting started. Sat on the jury during the morning session. Weighed in at 16:00 117.3kg, a little heavier than I expected!
Started lifting at 18:30. Lifting unopposed in the M3 120kg class so I only planned on doing two of each lift.

Squat.
Warmed up with:
2 x 5 x 20
5 x 70
3 x 110
1 x 130
1 x 145
Platform.
1 x 160 3 whites.
1 x 170 3 whites.
1 x 175 3 whites.
The 170 felt better than the 160 but I didn't think that 180 was there so took 175 and ground it out!

Bench - All Close Grip.
Warmed up with.
10 x 20
5 x 60
3 x 80
1 x 100
Platform.
1 x 100 3 whites.
1 x 110 3 whites.
1 x 115 3 whites.
All felt surprisingly comfortable, maybe a 117.5 would have gone!

Deadlift.
Struggled with these as well recently, a week last Wednesday 180 would not come off the floor!
Warmed up with:
5 x 70
3 x 120
1 x 140
1 x 160
1 x 180
Platform.
1 x 190 3 whites.
1 x 200 3 whites.
1 x 210 3 whites.
Surprisingly comfortable, maybe 215 would have gone!

500 total and British Masters Champion again. That said it was all a long way from the Europeans in March where I went 202.5/125/225 for 552.5.

Got back to my hotel around 10 then went for a few beers with Tim Wheeler and Iain Kendrick.

Still in two minds whether or not to continue next year.

Monday 22nd.

I'm in Northampton so even though its the day after competing it would be a shame not to do something.

Dire at the Farm though, just 4 lifters in Pete the Chair, Pete W, Stewart and me!
Weighed in at 117.70kg.

All belt free, knees were giving me some grief so I left it there.

Bench.
Lots and Lots x 20kg.
Tried moving my hands out slowly to see where the pain kicks in which turns out to be around an inch away from my normal grip position. Will try training from that point for the foreseeable.
