wow, fantastic result man - and i am talking about the individual events. You nailed good amount of reps, PB keg walk, good stones and so on. If you were last that was not due to lack of strength and ability, the field must have been really really good (as expected!).

Mide Daly is a strong mofo and a great strongman, deserved win there.

alright steve just jumpt on there at half time at the footy
you did well the day mate you where only last on countback so remember that
there was a lot of positives you should take from that comp some guys spend a lot of time playing in micky mouse comps before they would even dare go near that standard
you dived right in at the deep end
your press was a piece of piss and when the first one flew up some of the big guys stood up and took notice but your lack of fitness got you after 4
you dug deep and never let the big crowed affect you
next thing is to target your next comp and lets get training for it
well done takes balls to step up to the plate just remember that

some comp though
mike mark and allan seperated by 1 point

the closest comp i have ever been to and when mc was announcing placings the tension was unreal

Great work at the comp and a massive well done for getting stuck in!

Also well done to Andy for putting on the comp, I almost wish I was Scottish Eek

Mike Daly is a beast, plain and simple. I have no shame whatsoever in finishing one place behind him at the Unit 20 comp last November, in fact I feel honoured!

Stevie, you did just great! Having the balls to step up to the plate with such a short period of events training behind you, and carrying injuries, puts you on a different plane from all these guys who plan to lift 'next year, when I get a bit stronger' - only next year never comes. Nike should sponsor you, mate, because I can't think of anyone who fits their 'Just Do It' slogan better than you. With your attitude, I'm sure you'll go on to great things - more so if you dump the fags!

Thanks Joni, Johnny, JC, Martin, Andy, Thing I really appreciate the comments very much, it was a great contest and as Andy said it was so close and electrifying, I was hounerd to be just there never mind competing, and every one where the nicest bunch of guys you could meet, Mike Daly really deserved and he was AWSOMEHappy.

Martin you always leave great motivational comments for me, I really appreciate it, I like that one JUST DO ITGrin.

Andy are you looking for a wee week training partner you can throw aboutGrinGrinGrin.

Thing I am in Agony, especially with the 230KG deadlift falling out my hand at lockout and hitting me right on the left leg, it is bruised and battered and agony.

Was shattered today, I am changing my training to more sets in the 3-5 Rep range either 5 Sets or 3 sets of 3 reps, this will give me a bit more total weights lifted and conditioning, also going to stop smoking and work on all my weak areas very hard, because the fittness you need for strongman is PHENOMENAL.

Raw Bench:

3 Sets 25/20/15 Reps 20KG.
3 Sets 3 Reps 60/100/140KG.
3 Sets 3 Reps 170KG, very easy.

Incline Bench:

5 Sets 3 Reps 60/100/140/140/140KG.

Standing Barbell Curls:

3 Sets 5 Reps 20/40/60KG.

That is it, very easy because I am very soreGrin.

Bodyweight 98.5KG.

Cheers Iain, I things still the same, Injury's every week as usualGrin.

Trained in dumbarton today, and I was absolutely Knackered, the comp took a lot more out me than I thought, my lower back was Agony, had too take it a lot easier todayUnhappy.

Raw Squat To A Bench:

5 Sets 3 Reps 60/100/140/180/220KG.

Seated Barbell Press:

5 Sets 3 Reps 40/60/80/100/110KG.

Close Grip Bench To A Three Board:

5 Sets 3 Reps 60/100/140/160/180KG.

Deadlift Hold Simulator:

4 Sets 260/300/340/380KG 20/20/20/10 Second Holds, I have a lot of work to do on grip this yearRoll-Eyes.

I could not do any more, I am done in totally, I have also changed my training reps to 5-6 Sets of 3 reps as well, to get more volume into my training, hopefully it will help.

Bodyweight 98.5KG.

Cheers Thing, I have left the last 2 days, and feel a wee bit better again, but will leave the next session now to Sunday, because I was not 100% today againRoll-Eyes.

Deadlift From Below Knees DO With Straps:

6 Sets 3 Reps 60/120/160/200/240/280KG, my grip is still F*CKED since SundayUnhappy.

Axle Clean And Press:

6 Sets 1 Rep 60/80/90/100/110/120KG, took me aboiut 20 Seconds to get it to my chest, and pressed it twice, first rep was just up and down, and next rep was held for 1/4 of a secondGrin, but I done it, and it was with a non rotational axle, which is Harder, and I never rested on belt, just right upto to Belly, then a sod of a fight to chest.

Axle Standing Press Lockouts:

7 Sets 2 Reps 60/80/100/115/125/135/145KG, moved about 3-4 Inches at my sticking point, and these where very hard.

Right there is the UKSC Scotland's strongest man Open qualifier "So it is with the big boys" in about 2 weeks time, and I am thinking of enetering it, to come last againGrin.

The events are:

1. max Axle - Hopefully I will get 120KG on the day, and I will be happy.

2. Van Deadlift For Reps - I have only ever lifted the Van 3 times now and it was a light van, this will be Heavy, but straps are allowed, so hopefully, I get atleast 1 repGrin.

3. Medley 320KG Yoke for 20 Metres then load a chain onto a tyre and pull back - again I have done a 230KG yoke for 50 Metres 3 weeks ago, but have never tried 320KG so I do not even know if I will budge it, and I have no idea about the drag, never done it.

4. Farmers Walk Max Distance - again only done 110KG 3 weeks ago for 25 Metres, so do not even know if I will be able to lift these and walk 1 feet with it.

5. Truck Pull a 21 Tonne Truck 25 Metres - again I have never done it, so hopelly it will move at least 1 InchGrin.

6. Stones to a High Barrel 110, 120, 130, 140, 150, 160KG- Again only done stones 4 Times and I would believe it is going to be a high Barrel, I am only 5 feet 5 Inch, so I do not know if I will even get the first one that high.

But saying that, it would be a hellava, accomplishment for me to even be there.

The only thing I am concerned about is if I am going to Embarress the other guys there by doing this, because I repect them all, but I would love to try it anyway, what are people's opinoins PLEASEHappy.

I am not bothered about Embaressing my self, too old to even care now, but I realise to get better at anything you have just got to do it, even if it means not being able to do some things, because it will give me the boost to be able to at least do them next time, and I can keep my title as Scotland's Weakest StrongmanGrin.

I would really appreciate your thoughtsHappy.

I'd take Scotland's Weakest Strongman over Scotland's Strongest Couch Potato any time, mate. If you have the right spirit - which you do - you'll be disrespecting no one. What's that Nike slogan again?

Awesome training once again Stevie. Get the comp done, know way you will embarass yourself

You will do fine on the axle and DL (you have a good DL)

This also means you will be fine with the farmers (I have done 130 for 20ms and DL less than you, so I would think, unless ther 150 or something (you dont mention weight) you will be fine

The medley/stones you will not embaress yourself either - i think, you think, your weaker than you actually are Roll-Eyes Wink Cool

Just sw that you only 5ft5"!! I thought I was handicapped at stones at 5ft8" - you will have to try and nail plenty of technical work, like I am going to have to do. The long term aim is to shouldering 130+ so no probs with the load LOL
