Just heard the very sad news that Alan passed away this afternoon.
A lot of people on here knew him a lot better than I did, but I thought I would pass on the sad news.
He was a great bloke, very well respected by all who knew him, ex British Record Holder and trained many British Record Holders over the years, several of whom are members of this forum, many others on here met him and knew him.
I'm sure someone will construct a post detailing his acheivements etc.
RIP Alan.

Only met him a few times but he seemed like a good chap, he also gave me a few lifting tips that I still use today. Sad loss to all lifters.

Sad news, a lovely man who inspired so many people for decades and dedicated so much of his time to helping other lifters after being a great lifter himself. As Dan said I think there's others on here who are far better qualified to post just how special Alan was. RIP Alan.

Met him just the once at the Adlington push/pull but read plenty about him here. An inspirational man in many ways.
