BDFPA West-Midlands Divisional

Squat

170
180
185

All were probably too deep, struggled with these on the day, didnt feel comfortable for some reason. Having said that, for a first comp I was happy to have three good lifts ! Was expecting a p.b but didnt feel confident enough with the setup.

Bench

125 ... Felt nice and easy...
132.5 ... again felt really good...
137.5 ... FAILED, got 3/4" up and then it died, was confident of nailing this for a p.b !!

Deadlift

235 ... Didnt realise I couldnt pull in socks only, had to chuck my trainers on which threw me a tad, easy pull though...
245 ... Again felt ok...
252.5 ... Just enough to get a qualifying total, felt nice and smooth.

Really good day (albeit long, had to get up at 0400 hrs to get there) learnt a lot and it was a good experience, definately feel better for it. Was a bit confusing throughout with knowing when to warm up etc but it fell into place in the end !!

Happy to nail 8 out of the 9 lifts too !! A lot more to come this year...

To be honest I was too busy working out what the f**k was going on !! I was convinced I was going to get called up before I had warmed up, looking back it actually wasnt that bad at all.

Your squatting was one of the highlights of the day for me, great strength !!

Although I have nothing to compare it with, I thought the place was great and a really well run comp... shame I cant see it being a regular place for me, far too far !!

Thanks bud, and youre right it does. I'm gonna sort my s**t out this year, get down to 90kg for a start and hit the conditioning/cardio.

My short term goal (12months) is a 600kg total at 90kg, maybe a little optomistic but f**k it !! Happy

You should try the cardio after your weight sessions like I do, it seems to work well but may take some getting used too.

I think you could easy total 600kg in comp in no time, 200kg squat, 140kg bench and a 260kg deadlift, the 5kg will drop off and most of it will be retained water I think.

I used to do the cardio after training but struggle tio fit it in these days so will have to do it seperately unfortunately.

I'm confident of getting 600 in the next few months, gonna tweak my training a tad !
