yh I can only push press around 100kg myself. Actually id be lucky to do that. Give it a go and if it doesnt improve your bench give my way a blast Happy Id personally work on tricep and lat strength to get a bigger bench.

Really pleased with the above as I felt like s**t beforehand and wasn't expecting much, that last set was a p.b for a 5th set !! Chuffed to fcuk...

I'm not ignoring the advice given to me by Moz, I'll be sticking plenty more Lat stuff in through the week from now on... I do think I underestimated how important they are for the Bench.

I was really pleased with todays session as I was feeling like s**t beforehand with proper full blown man-flu, chest felt like s**t but I didn't want to let my mate down so gave it a whirl, not expecting much but I got a p.b on the bench. It must be the concocsion of Cavonia, Hall's soothers and Nurofen !!

Update... Not being lazy, just happens that I have a chest infection and not just a dose of man-flu. Went to the doc's and he even said I might have swine flu ! How much do G.P's over-react when there is an illness doing the rounds ?? Talk about arse covering... hopefully back doing it in a couple of days.

First session for a week after that flu s**t...

Cut it short after that, absolutley fooked. Really struggled with all the reps. I guess I was weaker than I thought after being ill...

Calf Raises
140 x 15 x 3 sets

I was even blowing out my arse after these !!

Finished with 15 mins Ab stuff (Hanging Leg raises, side bends etc) !!

Thanks... it certainly does pay to rest when you need to. The trouble is I've 'always' found it hard to rest properly. Even now, after so many years of training and I 'know' I should rest, I can't. I guess I'm just stupid !! Grin

D/E Box Squat

100 x 3 x 12 sets

The above were set a little lower than usual due to having to improvise with the 'box' (Half a dozen plates stacked up)
Incidentally, my back has been feeling 'ok' in the last few days, I think due to my forced rest with flu. However during this session my lower back had such a muscle pump type pain it was almost unbearable, kept stretching it off between sets to try and ease it, which it did eventually... I'm going to start doing some Yoga or Pilates s**t I think... when nobody's looking !!

Finished off with 20 mins Abdominal's... Leg raises, side bends, weighted sit ups and planks !!

First session we've had like this in a long time, wanted to see where abouts we were... relatively happy with 130, not sure it would have a thumbs up in any comp but still it was a 'good un' !

Push Press

Close Grip Bench
5 sets, relatively heavy of low reps. I can't remember the numbers so I won't be making them up for the sake of it !

Tri-Ext's
3 sets of 'nosebreakers' (50kg x 10 x 3 sets)
3 sets of standing ext's (50kg x 12 x 3 sets)

Overall, happy with how the heavy benching went, seemed to struggle on the middle part of the lift when it got heavy, no problem locking out or getting that first couple of inches, just the s**t in the middle that 'slows'... any offerings of wisdom welcome !!!

150 x 15 (5 sets)

Abdominals
Leg Raises for 5 sets of 10
Side Bends for 3 sets of 50 reps with 25 plate.

Overall really happy with the squats, especially after last weeks s**t effort... Next squat session may go for doubles working up to my heaviest single and go for a PB... Feeling the love for Squats again !! Woo Hoo...

reply to sat 7th Nov session. You can pop the bar off the chest? You can lock out? Your struggling the most at the point when the tris kick in? Try this mate pop the bar and try and keep the speed going then just before it hits the tris flare your elbows and keep pushing. word of warning, flare to early and it might be a on way trip, DOWN! Wink

Thanks, I've always tries to keep the elbows tucked in all the way through so I'll keep that in mind for Weds. Nice One !
