There is a long list of pretty unsavioury behaviour that Lance has been involved in, and much of it is not known by people who dont follow the sport. There seems to be a prevailing attitude amongst some that Lance did 'what was needed', in truth, his behaviour went way beyond that. There also seems to be the view that because they were all at it, it doesnt matter, that he should be treated the same as everybody else. Well the truth is, many of those that were 'at it' have been investigated, banned, stripped of titles and forced to pay back prize money. Going after Lance is treating him the same. If he admits it, and then isnt charged with perjury, you could actually make a very strong argument that he is being treated leniently. Everyone remember Marion Jones? She actually spent time inside for testifying that she had not taken PEDs when she had. Lying under oath is a serious crime, whether your LA or some random dude from the street. | ||

There is a rule in the states that if more than 5 years has lapsed after the crime (murder, rape and a few others are not bound by this rule) ie. lying under oath, you cannot face criminal charges and conviction Unsuprisingly the 5 years has just recently lapsed IIRC | ||
