I watched, it was great!

Ben's snatches were superb, bit disappointing that he didn't get the 185kg C&J. But building such a lead in the snatch was brilliant work and put the pressure on the other lifters.

Benni in strongman is an interesting prospect!

I randomly heard he was going to Australia few days ago when I was on the phone to Barclays business banking and the guy I was speaking to, when he found out what my business was, said, 'I was speaking to a bloke the other day who does World's Strongest Man.'

So obviously I asked who, and turns out it was Benni.

Nice to be chatting to my bank about strongman.

I think the weights are a little light too, but if you get a lot of women competing, that's a good thing.

After a year or two of decent numbers of competitors at comps, the standard will go up anyway as the demand will be there, and there won't be a hue and cry about it ;-)

I've done something similar for women: Strength Standards for Women

I first wrote it in 2008, revised it in 2011 and will probably revise it again next year. As more women are taking up lifting, the 'average jane' level is going up. This is cool and makes it interesting to track standards. I also need to start including the olympic lifts since so many people are starting to do them now.

The same is true of men - to a lesser extent. More men are doing strength training so the average level is rising.

I like those stretches.

You can also switch to sumo for a while as this is a lot easier on the SI joint.

BTW just found this article, which seems excellent, on different ways to train for those with SI joint pain.
