slow_lift_joe | First Man Film, Did The USA Go To The Moon ? | 22-10-2018 @ 23:44
Interesting Member 6186, 245 posts | The new film First Man out in the cinemas across the UK. I know you like the Big Foot conspiracy (the man in the ape suit, or a real big foot roams the USA/Canadian wilderness.) The biggest conspiracy out there is the "Apollo Missions and Moon Landings of 1969". I am unsure 50/50. Miles to national space centre 220 miles approx from earth, miles to the moon 238,000 approx. Man has travelled to the moon once with 1969 technology. Van Allen Radiation Belts ? Film and photos made for effect ? Some of the behaviours are strange from that time. I know most theories have been debunked but I do not know what to think, some of the information and study of the time is odd and strange, I am just unsure but would like to think man did go to the moon.

To me it was merely a Cold War visual oneupmanship. Although this view is born of me watching 5 minutes of a documentary once...

Sir Patrick Moore assured me (and the rest of the country) he was an English gentleman and would never lie about something like that. Didn't they put mirrors up there so we could fire lasers at them and time how long the light took so we could calculate exact distances. That would take some explaining if we didn't do it. Plus is was a race between the USA and the USSR and the Russians never once cried foul. They went.

Quite apart from the mountain of scientific evidence, there are two compelling human proofs. One, as Peter mentions, is that the Russians would never have accepted a faked defeat. The second is simple human nature, and is the problem with essentially all conspiracy theories. We see every day in the news compelling evidence that large groups of people can't keep secrets. For thousands to have kept one of this scale for over fifty years is simply a ridiculous proposition.

If they didn't go then why would they fake going several times, that seems totally counter-intuitive. The Ruskies not crying foul is another biggie. And the nail in the coffin is the fact that hundreds haven't come forward claiming it hoax. People would literally have burst keeping that to themselves over the years. That said, there are certain elements to the story which allow this disbelief to manifest. AMH_Power is a big non-believer and was able to put together a strong argument on FB recently about this exact topic.

Still got a little bit of strength Member 400, 22058 posts | An explanation for the reflectors is that they were put there by an unmanned mission. I've debated this to death more than once, and will limit my contribution this time around. They may well have gone, but I don't think the "official" record of it is true. I'm 100% sure that, for whatever reason, there was fakery involved. When I looked into it before I found 2 examples of footage in which an astronaut is bouncing around in reduced gravity (on a wire??) and within the same footage something else drops to the ground like it would on Earth! I even did a calculation with one of them, using the astronaut's height to get a good estimate of the distance the object fell, and the length of time it took to reach the ground was consistent with Earth's gravity - definitely not one sixth of Earth's gravity! There is other stuff like photos that nobody could have possibly taken, e.g. an aerial view of a lunar module. I'd love to know the truth.
