plan for this week:

Tuesday - Deficit deads for speed
Hang cleans
Clean and jerk/press light for technique
Front squats
Squat walkouts, hold for time with as much as I can pick up
Farmers hold (walk if i can get away with it in gym!) with shrug frame
loaded up for speed first then add weight

Thursday - 20 rep squats for a bit of cardio/pain/s&m/sickness*
Incline bench
Chins
Bent over rows
115lb dumbell Side bends

* delete as appropriate

Friday - if I feel like it...
Cleans for technique
Good mornings/stiff leg deads
One arm Dumbell stuff and grip work

Then off to Olympic on Sunday to have a do at the events again Grin

Rack pulls from knee height

2x220kg (failed 3rd rep Angry )

Full Clean and push press
3x60kg (pressed 3 reps for each clean)
3x80kg
85kg failed clean 3 times - too far away from my body to turn my wrists under the bar
5x60kg

Front Squats

Belt on
2x100kg
3x80kg

Farmers - ran out of time, the gym was closing, will do these next session instead.

Form's improving on cleans, I'm just sussing out what to do with my feet and legs to get under the bar at the top of the clean and after the push for the press. Tired now. Grin

Good volume

How do you feel the deficit deads compare with normal deads? I've started deads off 25kg plates (approx 3") and definitely find them harder. Have you done them before and if so have they improved the pull off the floor?

Thanks mikeyp - I did them quite often a while back, not done them for a couple of months now. Deads stick above my knee, these help me gain speed through the pull so I can get past this point. I don't go heavy, more of a speed pull, but they are harder than normal deads. I found that after a coule of sessions doing them I could break more weight off the floor though, definitely! My hammys need strength really though, which is where the rack pulls come in...

Cheers Kenny, since you guys half killed me down HHH I've been trying to get more volume in, so I won't be too f**ked for the last event or two...hopefully I can get down next Wed to train again, will be good to catch up mate!

Felt really tired today, it's been too hot to sleep properly the last few nights and long days on my feet sapping my energy. I need to eat more to compensate Grin

Needed a rest in the middle of the squats, after that rest they didn't get any harder and I felt like I could have done more. Will have another do next week or so when I've had a nice week off work.

Just did some tricep overhead extensions, hammer curls, reverse grip skull crushers, pull ups and dips tonight for my weak triceps mainly.

Wanted to go to olympic gym this morning, but after doing 55 hours at work this week on top of training I feel drained today. I got to Friday afternoon thinking I would be finished for the week in a few hours (week off next week as well) and I was asked to cover Saturday (6.30am start). I need the cash, so I did it, and I'm now f**ked...so I'm going to either get over to train with Mark haydock or get over to olympic this week instead. Maybe both. Today I plan to stay off my feet for as much of the day as possible Grin

Tweaked something in my back, left it there - was only planning 3x3 at 180kg anyway, so not missing much

Clean and push press

5x65kg - cleaned first and felt my back too tight at the bottom of the pull so only cleaned first rep of each set, not every one as planned Unhappy
5x75kg
2x85 - failed 3rd rep
racked it instead of doing cleans due to back
3x85kg
2x85kg - failed 3rd rep
3x5 75kg

incline close grip bench

5x bar
5x40kg
5x5 60kg

Seated OH press

10x8 plates
3x5 11 plates

Farmers Walk

50kg each hand 10m
90kg each hand 2x10m

Used the shrug frame for this, kept catching the pins on the benches and having to wriggle free - no problem holding on and moving quite fast too.

Back feeling ok today, just a minor stiffness. Few days taking it easy will be ok.

Went to HHH tonight, only three there, trained on my own for a while, but stayed away from any deadlift type movement.

Yoke 140kgx10m
200kg 6x10m runs.

Yoke press empty yoke for around 5 sets of 5 reps.

Gonna do some arm and grip stuff at home tomorrow, gym Friday to get some cleans and plenty of different rows, then over to olympic on Sunday, hopefully feeling reasonably fresh.

Did some arm work Thursday, rest Friday and Saturday, felt kind of sluggish today though.

Sun 16th Aug

Olympic Gym today, slow start, but got going (kind of) eventually

Log clean and press

Some with 62kg log, followed by a PB 72kg log press

Yoke

Just a couple of light runs for speed (140kg I think) while waiting for tyre and stones

Tyre Flip - 330kg tyre

Stones to 48"

103kg - Failed
90kg x 1

Cleans

5x60kg
5x70kg

Farmers Walk

2x20m 52kg
2x20m 92kg
2x5m 100kg

Ripped callouses off one hand on last run - left it there for today. Stones felt heavier than last week, I will nail that 117kg stone next 2 weeks - 3 out of 4 in the comp is my aim - if I get them I will be over the moon. Overhead I am hoping to get 3 out of 5, the logs look like a crackpipe dream at the mo, but this is my weak event, and the rest of them I should go ok at. More overhead work this week, and since I had a niggle in my back this week I'm gonna do some deads to make up for it and zercher squats as well. More arm abuse as well, as I have easily the skinniest arms in the comp, which I feel is the culprit for my weak ass pressing!
