I dunno really mate, I find they are quite different (maybe I dont do GMs quite right though). More glutes in SLDL probably, and GMs carry over for me more to squats than deadlifts whereas its t'other way round with SLDL - more carryover to deads than anything.

Spent Monday travelling (basically sleeping on a coach with a huge stash of food at the ready Grin) so didn't train. However, back on Dad duty this week, so happy days Happy

Tue 7th June

Squats


10 x bar
5 x 60kg
5 x 120kg
4 x 9 x 135kg

Bench

10 x bar
8 x 60kg
5 x 85kg
5 x 100kg
1 x 105kg
1 x 110kg
5 x 100kg

Incline Close Grip Bench

5 x 60kg
3 x 3 x 80kg

Chest Supported Lever arm machine rows

8 x 45kg each arm
3 x 8 x 65kg rach arm

A few wide grip chins after, but was tired by this time so I sacked them off. Walked 3 miles home then following this. Nice.

Some shoulder BB stuff as well as a 3 mile walk. Feeling OK on this smolov now, sleeping a lot more and eating more too but overall it doesn't feel to harsh really.

Its going ok, had one or two slips but on the whole I'm coping with it...temper and simmering rage is not a problem yet but that will probably change when i get back to work next week...fitness and energy levels feel up though so it's doing me good at least, cheers! Happy

Finished the smolov squats, but I can't get online much at the moment to type up my journal due to having 2 jobs and training as well as a broken laptop which I am waiting for a part for...

Smolov squats went:

Sat 11th June 7 x 5 x 153kg plus some sldl upto 3 x 180kg and deficit deads a few x 3 @180kg plus a single 200kg.

Mon 13th June I went to see my son for a week so could only get 2 sessions in this week... 10 x 3 x 160kg plus some bench pressing up to 110kg, incline bench up to 5 x 80kg and the next session was:

Thu 16th June squats 4 x 9 x 143kg plus some strict press to 5 x 65kg, dips and tricep assistanceand some shoulder bb stuff.

Got back to Aberdeen for a job interview, got the job (in William Hills Grin ) and finished the conditioning cycle of smolov with:

Thu 23rd June - 5 x 7 x 150kg
Sat 25th June - 7 x 5 x 160kg
Sun 26th June - 10 x 3 x 168kg was the plan, I did 4 x 3 x 170kg, a double then 4 singles.

Also did pressing on 2 days and deficit deads on the 3rd day. This last week was the hardest week of training I've done so far. From the halfway mark of the first 3 days (9x4, 7x5 and 5x7) I was grinding out the last 1-3 reps and having a few seconds between reps, but got through it. The 10x3x170 was mental, maybe due to the week off inbetween and also I had been working all day and had little food so felt weak and low on energy before I started.

2 weeks off major squattage now, then on to the intense phase...

Smolov looks to be going well at the mo, you'll be glad of 2 weeks off Happy
